*** How to obtain a bike license ***

Yeah this is another thing, i realise not only have i blown it as i now have to do tests with no practice, but also a test is quite a bit due to bike hire and insurance via the training centre. Sigh i dunno. I either pass next time, or have a serious think. Mod 1 is a fools game

Legislatures probably think it's a good quick 15min test that is cheap. But they don't appreciate the costs and timing issues that can completely block a competent rider who would have otherwise flown through the pre 2009 test

I get your frustration mate. But take my advise DONT GIVE UP!

I was one of the last people to do the old test in 2009 and failed on the Thursday before the new test. I never went back... and I have been gutted since! Just give yourself 2 years, this year plan to pass Mod 1..... Then next year do Mod 2. Spread the cost out.
The system is a ******** ******* ****** **** of ******* system... Just a money making exercise and to put people off buying motorbikes! Stick with it bro, you'll get there!

Spend a little extra and see if they can squeeze you in for an hour the day before or the morning of it just to refresh, the fact you already seem to be worrying about going in cold with no more training means you'll probably end up flapping on the day. For the cost of an hours training it's worth doing if it's an option.

When I failed my mod 1 the first time, they told me I'd need a days training and bike hire before the second time, 10 minutes before my 2nd mod 1, I turned up, jumped on the other guys bike and took the test, passed and drove home from the test centre. Wasn't paying for a full days training when I knew I could pass.

Such nice weather yesterday, then today I arrived for mod 1 with soaked frozen hands and could barely move my fingers.

Passed with 2 minors though :) 1 for easing off the brakes towards end of emergency stop (not wanting to lock the rear), 2nd for 48 on the avoidance.

Mod 2 booked for Thursday/Friday next week. Got the bike (honda cbf600) up to 11k rpm on the way back accelerating up the slip road to join a dual carriageway, wow it's a whole other level of acceleration when you get the revs up high!

Theory test for me tomorrow. Still unsure about the hazard perception test as it seems counter intuitive to click in a narrow window especially when there's only "1" hazard per clip and I'm failing a lot of them for over-clicking.

My advice is, only click when you see something, and leave at least 1-2 seconds between each click. That way you will at least score some points if either two of the clicks is actually on the hazard. :)

That is what I did on both of mine (Car and bike) and passed first time.

Click three times slowly each time you see something, about 1 second between clicks. Did both my car and bike theory test this way and never had any clips disregarded for too many clicks, it's the method I've always seen mentioned for doing well.

Ok I think it's the app on my phone that's the issue. I just tried one of the clips, only clicked once and spotted the developing hazard.... too many clicks even though the summary said 5/5

Edit: did another, clicked a total of twice (both times in the window of opportunity) and too many clicks.

Yeah on the actual test I'd click up to 10-12 or so times on a clip. 3 times per potential hazard, you probably see maybe 3 or 4 things that could be the developing one. Looks like your app is just trying to get you to click once only.

Passed it :cool::D

I got a few curve ball questions but otherwise flew it. Once I'd done the first few clips of the HP without getting the "no score" message I relaxed a lot.

46/50 theory
65/75 HP

Congrats!

I didn't even practise the HP before mine, which I think may have actually done me some good. Meant I wasn't overthinking it or trying to avoid falling foul of the system.

Got CBT booked this weekend and the place I'm doing it have agreed to knock some money off if I book DAS on the day. Hope the weather holds out :)

Right that's mod 2 passed. Just the 1 minor for passing a parked car with oncoming traffic. There was a reasonable amount of space which is why I went, but he said it would have been safer to just hang back and wait for the car to pass as what if that van had opened his door or pulled off while I was passing, which is fair enough.

We certainly didn't hang about on the ride back since both of us passed. Followed our instructor back and it was nice not having to sit at 60 in the NSL sections anymore. Just need to finish up buying this flat then I can start to think about bike shopping.

Congratulations, awesome feeling isn't it. :)

Completed the CBT. Feel like I need to practice the slow speed turns before trying MOD1 but otherwise happy enough.

Coming through one village there was oil all over the road which was... interesting.

No need, you'll practice all of that on your das course.
