*** How to obtain a bike license ***

Not sure if it was a brand new one but I’m sure @Tefal rode a Ninja 400 for a while. :)
Nah I've got an old no is 250 as a second bike. It's great fun.

If the 400 is more of the same it should be awesome but I think with the prices I'd either go for an older 250 if you just want a run about/commuter you can have fun on or I'd go for the rc390 for full on baby sports bike.

I'm not sure where the new no is 400 fits between the two as I've only sat on one not rode one

Wasn’t able to finish it, the other guy doing it with me was a bit slow to pick it up and had no road experience to we couldn’t complete the road ride. Pretty annoyed but c’est la vie!

Crazy I did my CBT with no road expernece in any vehicle and it went ok, Our whole little group of was full of near disasters but we all got through

When I did my CBT we had 2 instructors. One covered the road-ride part of the day with 2x teenage scooter yobs and the other covered the older riders (myself (32) and another chap (25)) who were on geared bikes.

I wouldn't have been happy if they'd told me to go home because of another rider but I suppose that's easier said that done.. unless you kick up a stink with the training school on the day, I can't see how they'd change their mind :p

Have you done your theory @Maccy? If not, get that done ASAP so that when you've completed the CBT you can go straight on a DAS course and on the big bikes. On that note, I learned on an ER-6F and it was a great bike but I went with an SV650 as my first bike as I wanted something new and the replacement (Z650) wasn't available in the colours I liked locally and was £££ more expensive.

No it's on a very long list of things to do, will look at getting it done at some point in the next few weeks.

Got my CBT tomorrow, hopefully it goes well. Bike Theory in October now, then if all goes well tomorrow will try get full licence before end of the year. But we will see how tomorrow goes first.

I'm going back this Sunday to complete it, hoping there's no additional fees otherwise I'll be looking elsewhere to do mod1 and mod2.

Surely you just pick the phone up and ask? I'd have done that the following day (if I'd not already asked on site), seems utterly silly to just wait until you're there and find out if you need to go elsewhere, personally I'd be inclined to go elsewhere for the CBT anyway.

If theory is Oct you might be pushed for mod1 & mod2 test dates before the end of the year, depending on ability and if you plan on intensive course or not.

Got through CBT, was a very good day. Hoping to progress soon now. Going to try plan getting the Mod1 + 2 booked, timing might be the most challenging aspect of the whole process :)

Do your theory before you book Mod1+Mod2 as you need your theory certificate before you can start mod1 training. :)

Going for a two hour session tomorrow so they can see what level i'm at and get me ready for my mod 1 and 2.

I was going to leave it until next year but with my bike getting stolen i'm not going to get another 125 and going to get my A license done with the insurance money and put the rest towards a bigger bike.

Booked in for 20th Oct, earliest I could get it and be available.. would have liked to get it out the way this next week but doesn't look possible. Going to try book up mod 1 in November/December, then depends how it goes get mod 2 booked as soon as possible after it.

Although they seem like a really busy place up in Newcastle.

Really enjoyed being out on the bike though :) even if it was just 125 on a CBT

Went out for another two hours today with the instructor still on the 125 before i get on a bigger bike although they have changed the bikes from a van van to an even smaller Keeway bike, the thing is stupidly small.

I'm 6ft4 so even changing gears on it is hard because my foot is forced in such an awkward position under the shifter, if i don't get on a bigger bike after i go back tomorrow i think i'm going to have to go to a place that uses bigger bikes.

Are you paying for mod1 induction training? If so you should be on an A category bike.

Or is it just 2 hours to see what kind of training you'll need?

Two or three sessions are what most people have before moving on to the bigger bikes they said, just trying to iron out any bad habits first.
Seems odd to me really.

I had my CBT on the 125 then the next time I went was for mod 1 training without any riding between (no bike), and was straight on a 500 for 30 mins or so to judge riding ability then onto a 600 for the rest of the day, couple days riding the 600 around their training area and on the roads then mod 1 test on the 3rd day.
