How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

@SinSilla
please can you tell me how long the card is including the overhang from the cooler?

M_Taylor40

As i have Asus eah7850 i thought id measure it for you.
Just measured and it came to 10.2" total length. 8" for card itself and the extra for the cooler. Hope that helps you out.

theres no definitive max safe voltage for these cards yet

according to sapphire tech:

Great, now at least theres a baseline voltage increase ppl here can go by, thanks for posting. :) assuming they're refering to reference cards where the voltage is supposed to be the same across all brands.

So I'm guessing anything below 1.25v be it Sapphire, MSI or Asus cards will be safe right? ;) Anyway, I believe most people OC only when they're gaming? Since OCing when idle is redundant.

Cheers for the info Tuffluck, always reassuring to read info from an actual Techy, noticed in Sapphire Trixx the VDDC max is also 1.25v so guess its logical they wouldnt allow voltages beyond that ending in more RMAs and hassle all round..
O.K so out of curiosity I upped the VDDC to max and seems to be stable @1200 on the GPUs, I tested the memory @1375, 1400,1450,1500,1550 and best results as mentioned earlier seem to be around 1375 mark or 5500 effective.
This is in crossfire mind you which appears to effect/limit the max overclock compared to single cards.
Heres 2 @1200/[email protected] runs showing the performance hit from no AA to 4xAA

The voltage controllers will not go above safe voltages anyway as they will have been hard wired that way.... The card will need modding to get higher then the card will allow.

So, I'm still waiting for the MSI to come into stock :( However, according to the shop website, they do have the Sapphire one.

With the MSI card, I needed to also order a HDMI to DVI cable. The sapphire comes with it included. (I'm running an eyefinity setup with 2x DVI and 1x DP to VGA converter but these cards only have 1x DVI port)

So, do I hang on for the MSI or go Sapphire instead? Any opinions on which is better or they just much of a muchness?

Havent tried the MSI but can vouch for the 2 Sapphire OCs I have, the cooling on these cards are exceptional and they obviously clock awsome, doubt MSI card will be superior in any way or form so why wait? also come bundled with the handy miniport converter!

Thanks for that RICKST20!
Looks like I've found my next upgrade as that will fit perfectly!
I'll post back with my OC results when I finally get the card, hoping for end of the month.
Thanks again!

Hey guys i just noticed something, Whens Asus gpu tweak is running some of my keyboard characters stop working like (@£§), any reason why this is happening?

Hello there, i registered too just to share my opinions.

I have a sapphire hd 7850 OC at 920mhz factory clock, so far i have not overclock any yet. Still waiting for CM 212 to better air ventilate my rig.

Im wondering what would it be if the 7850 is overclocked to monster + lucid virtu with integrated gpu? Owning battlefield 3 wont be a problem at all i reckon

I put an order in for the ASUS HD7850 DCUII, but I had to cancel after hearing that the type of cooler has problems when placed in a vertical orientation. Does anyone know which version of the card will best suit the vertical orientation of a Silverstone FT02 case?

Cheers

Hi guys, also registered here cause of this great thread etc. etc. ;)

So I just thought I would share my OC results! But first my rig details:

i7 2600 (non K-Series and stock)
Intel DZ68DB
2 * 4GB DD3 @ 1333 MHz

Sapphire HD 7850 (1150, 5700 MHz - @ 1.155V - Using Sapphire Trixx - ULPS Disabled)

No for the Unigine results, I ran the benchmark at the same settings I have noted elsewhere on the forum, let me know if things are not looking correct.
