** HP Compaq Mini 311c-1010SA Intel Atom N270 ION 11.6" Netbook @ £314.99 inc VAT **

Yup, and I've just checked their site... they won't replace unless it's been missing 21 days.

I would order from OcUK and just return the first set if it arrived but I can only get RM delivery free, even with DPD I would have to wait until Monday now :p

have you got any photos of this netbook? might get one, havent had a laptop before, good choice?

is it only 1gb max of ram?

Took delivery of my 311 today, been playing with it for a few hours so far and this is my first post using it! I absolutly love it, the screen is beautiful, the keyboard is really nice, graphics acceleration works perfectly, it looks better than it does in pics... just really nice!

Got Windows 7 up and running no problems so far, working flawlessly in fact. Still got Bluetooth and the webcam to go, but don't see them being a problem really. It runs fine even with the 894mb usable ram, though I will be buying more soon. Areo works great, just as smooth as any desktop. The Atom copes suprisingly well with most things I've thrown at it and the system is generally fast and responsive.

If anyone is thinking about getting one of these but is unsure, just buy it!

They posted it last Friday, I should have got it the monday/tuesday when they wren't striking. Oh well, guess I will just have to wait. It handles W7 fine with 1gb.

I'll be interested to know what difference the extra memory makes, if any.

I doubt it's worth it with Windows XP but could be worthwhile doing with Windows 7.

Bit quicker to start, gives you 256mb GPU memory instead of 128mb, good for things like Photoshop which I'll be using quite a bit.

To general every day tasks like web browsing 1gb was sufficient even on W7.

hi all,
just a couple of Q's to all 311c owners.
Recieved mine yesterday first impressions are overall really good.
1> the fan on the left side seems to be constantly on.
2> touch pad sometimes reacts ramdomly. (might just be me needing to adjust to the shinny plastic used)

in the case of the fan is this normal -

Cheers

My fan is also always on. There is an option in the bios called "fan always on" which is on by default, but I didn't like to change it. If you experement let us know how you get on!

The touchpad is the weakpoint of the laptop really, but you do get used to it and once you have it setup to your liking it works quite well, just takes a bit more getting used to than some other touchpads.

I'll give it a go now if you like.

Edit: Doesn't seem to make any difference, temps are much the same as is noise (still very quiet).

do you think its best to wait a bit to see when the new model with win 7 is out? if i wait till xmas

I think it's going to be quite expensive with any decent upgrades to the hardware.
