** HP Compaq Mini 311c-1010SA Intel Atom N270 ION 11.6" Netbook @ £314.99 inc VAT **

One thing that is annoying me is the touchpad.

Anyone find there is far too much friction on it? a different surface would have been better. I installed the touchpad drivers under Win7 and its a little better, still find it drags though.

I'm thinking of holding back for the ASUS Eee PC 1201A (should come with dualcore N330, windows 7 pre-installed, 2 gigs, 12'', 11 hour battery life, what utterly ridiculous claim). I'm in no rush for a netbook, although it would be nice for the Christmas break.
I was waiting for this but needed a Netbook now for a trip to Florida. By the way - the specs indicate 8 hours battery life ;)

If it's out in time i'll get in Florida.

I ve read on various blogs that there are plans for a 3G version around december. Speculation, for now. Makes sense to have the SIM slot and PCI-E there until they sort the drivers etc ... Having to re-mould the case etc is not a smart move I guess ...
It's not speculation, it's already available and has been since it was launched... :p

Just got my HD55 headphones plugged in at work playing music and I'm utterly impressed with the soundcard built into this thing - is the same card used on other netbooks too? I don't recall the NC10 having anywhere near the same SQ and kickback in bass once bass enhancement is enabled.

The soundtsaging suits Sennheiser perfectly :D
I was quite surprised with the quality with my Sennheisers too, very impressed!

You get used to it honestly. I hated it at first, but after a little while it's no different to any others trackpad. :)

I am the same. Coming from my NC20 whose touchpad was a joy to use im struggling with this one.

Touchpad does taking some getting used to I agree but that's really the only thing.

I intended to buy a portable mouse anyway though so that issue is a small point :p

I asked earlier in thread but recieved no reply,
So can this thing run Fm 2010?
Thanks

I got runawayprisoner (the guy who hacked the drivers for DX10) to fully test this game, and his results are HERE

Football Manager 2010 - perfect at native resolution. CPU may hold up match views when it's trying to decide what to do next. The game does not stop when that happens... and players can still be seen with a running animation and you can still navigate around, but it'll stay that way for a bit. No known fix yet unless maybe overclock the CPU so it can make the decision faster. Otherwise game is smooth and very playable. FPS seems to be capped at 30 for the 3D matches.

Games that have been tested on the Mini 311 are regularly added to this list HERE

;)

Anyone else having hibernation issues with Windows 7. Basically when mine hibernates it can't find the hard disk on resume. It just hangs after the red boot screen and annoyingly takes about 5 reboots before it will give the "Hit Esc" boot option. Once that appears you can F9 and manually select the hard disk which sorts it every time. Weird issue indeed.

System has the new F4 bios and all the latest drivers and updates from the HP site. Before the HP Windows 7 update it had an even stranger issue where when you tried to resume from sleep the screen came up for a couple of secs to tease you, then it sent itselt into hibernation. With the hibernation issue too that was considerably more frustrating.

Your not the only one, see HERE

I never use hibernate, prefer to use SLEEP.

Just disable hibernate and do the same: In an elevated command prompt, type powercfg -h off and press Enter.
