** HP Compaq Mini 311c-1010SA Intel Atom N270 ION 11.6" Netbook @ £314.99 inc VAT **

Can anyone confirm if it is worth getting extra GB or 2GB stick? I have seen people say it depends on your setup but thought I would ask those of you who have tried both.

Mine should ship Monday...

Link says it has been flagged and suggests it may be malware. Anyone else tried this?
Don't know why he has posted that link. It's old news now anyway!

Defiantly worth getting a 2GB stick. Makes a huge difference to performance in all tasks.

I use Corsair CM3X2GSD1066 and it works great.

Because this saves hacking ION drivers to work on ION LE, the links you refer to are about hacking drivers, which we all know about certainly, but this fix alters BIOS DMI so that driver hacks are no longer required. ;)

Which would void your warranty and potentially break your system.

Also you don't have to used hacked drivers, you just tell it to use ION ones instead of LE ones, there is no hack or editing involved.

They have a shipment on the way (apparently!). Was due in last Friday but have been told Monday, Tuesday and now the week. Need it by Friday for a b'day gift :(

Stuck on a ship last seen off the coast of Canvey island heading for Bermuda ;)

i plucked up the courage to do it and it worked. From what I can tell it simply lets you change bios settings that you don't otherwise have access to. If a warranty issue develops and you can still boot the machine, you can still change it back.

Unless you require DX10 ;)
Using normal unhacked drivers works the same as hacked ones or the bios tool. The result is the same - the system thinks it has (which technically it has, but lets not go there!) a full DX10 ION. No need to edit any drivers and certainly no need to void your warranty.

You certainly can :) using the BIOS recovery flash procedure ;)
Unless your PC doesn't boot for some reason, then you're screwed.

There is NO reason to use the tool when a 5 second (literally) few clicks of the mouse in Windows does the same thing with no ill effects. Just my 2p :)
