HP LP2475w, IPS 24" Official Thread! (Now Available from OcUK)

I am pretty much sold on this monitor after reading this thread. :)

I have one question. I don't want this to only be a computer monitor and so I'm wondering how well the aspect ratio controls work over the analog connections. Is it possible to plug in a VCR/Playstation 2/SNES and keep aspect ratio? Does it overscan if you fill the screen?

Yeah but you said that your replacement was doing the same thing, no? How many hours did it take for it to go away?

It was a lot less evident (probably 90% better than the first one) on this panel though, as otherwise I would have kept swapping them out.

By the way, does HP pay for shipping or does the customer have to?

In my case, the retailer likes you to verify there is a problem with the manufacturer first, and will then take it back as an RMA (HP provide a "DOA" form with a code you send along with the monitor). Postage was paid both ways.

If you use the HP warranty it's either a doorstep swap out or an engineer coming to visit (at least in the UK anyway).

Check the warranty support for your country:

Or just phone the business support line and have a chat. Really, have a chat, the UK warranty includes 'Initial Setup Assistance' valid for about 4 months after purchase :)

Unfortunately, when I check the warranty in my country (Canada), they say there is no warranty information available at this time... I guess I will have to phone them or something.

The strange thing is that when I first turn my monitor on in the morning, the problem is a lot less. Maybe 75-80% better. I think as the monitor heats up it becomes more apparent.

I might phone HP and see what they say... Philjohn, even though your new one did not have as bad a problem, did it show right away? and how long did it take for it to go away?

There should have been a warranty documet packaged with the driver CD.

It didn't really show right away, but seemed to peak around 20-30 hours backlight usage and then steadily decreased from there. It also helps to have the monitor at sensible backlight levels (12-15 max).

Could you post your exact settings that you use?

I have my brightness quite a bit higher than that. And yea I know the document you are talking about, I'll try phoning them tonight to at least see what they say.

Thanks for your replies by the way they are helpful, all of you.

no, just i havent adjusted my eyes yet.......so probably i'll sell it....i had LG L2000C S-IPS prior to this, luckily not sold it yet.

red is too reddish even at 200 :(

Have you tried adjusting the RGB Black level for red? I did this on mine - from 50 down to 30 - and the 'reds' are just fine now. No different to the 10 different types of other monitors we have in the office...

yes.

Is there any way to reset BACKLIGHT HOURS?

Enter "service menu" Hold menu button down while powering monitor on, release and press again. In the new advanced menu you'll find the possibility to reset backlight hours.

Look at me still giving advice on this monitor I no longer owne

Nomadd when you say RGB Black level, do you mean via your graphics card software or via the monitor?

The only settings I can adjust on my monitor (colour wise) are RGB up to 255.

What is your firmware version? GIG 031?

To adjust these you need to install the HP Display Assistant which then gives you three additional RGB sliders for the black level, which really help tone down the reds without creating a green or blue tint.
