*** HP Reverb G2 Owners Thread ***

that’s promising, I didn’t get an answer when I asked if the fixes were rolled into the 1.2.0.0 agesa. They did say that AMD had a bios level fix for the x570 USB issues though.

I didn’t want to jump on the 1.2.0.0 yet as it’s still an early beta bios for my board but now I’m tempted.

as for the pcie4.0 weirdness I was seeing random disconnecting and reconnecting, error codes, world spinning out of control etc.

Scratch that - First try this morning and USB 2.0 headphones again :(

Doh!

regarding printable interfaces - just came across this one which is fully parametric so you can adjust it (he also includes standard, wide and ultra wide files) and prints supportless which is great. also includes a nose flap to print in TPU. For people without printers he sells on etsy it seems. Going to give it a go! DNLGasket | HP Reverb G2 supportless parametric gasket by Danol - Thingiverse

@mrh2019 you are definitely comfortably outside the specified range... it may be ok but it depends on how sensitive you are to misalignment, what will bother someone won’t bother someone else.

The only mainstream headset I’m aware of that can accommodate you directly is the vice/vice pro, both somewhat behind the cutting edge.

The other option is to look at Pimax, they have headsets that go up to 75/76 I believe

Printed this one out (the “wide” version) and it’s the real deal, highly recommend it if you are finding the standard interface limiting.

I can now see the edges of the screen, so have hit maximum FoV, the interface is much easier to print and better designed for 3D printing in general than the others I’ve seen with good wall width giving a strong final part.

Thank you for the advice, I had a Pimax before and wished I still had it..

Been looking at this one for VR. Have the tracking problems with the controllers been fixed since the launch. Also anyone with an IPD around 72 found it ok?

The tracking hasn't improved as WMR as a platform isn't being actively updated, besides the G2's camera placement is sub-optimal for cases where your hands are by your sides, which when you're playing games with free locomotion you tend to do a lot. It's a shame that such a good headset is let down by such poor tracking.

The former isn't true in so far as it is being very actively developed... Not least in helping pioneer OpenXR support in the industry, they also pushed updates before the G2 went live that improved performance and reduced chromatic aberration etc. MSFT WMR guys occasionally drop by on the HP subreddit to answer questions and they do indeed continue to work on all aspects of WMR. In fact they are there now and I quote from 1hr ago "We are discussing the possible tracking improvements and will share the updates soon." here I think the fact they don't have a public facing roadmap gives a false impression that things aren't in the pipeline when they actually are.

The sub-optimal positioning of cameras is however very true, and I think any attempts to significantly improve things will be somewhat hamstrung by the lack of tracking volume beneath the headset.

Has HP even fixed the FOV with a new gasket?

No, although I have seen some slight suggestion that the feedback is getting through nothing has been announced on that front.

The gasket I linked a few posts above is however absolutely brilliant.

I stand corrected! Thanks for the info.

For Il-2 and DCS the band width can be an issue. I have today pre ordered a 3090 so I dont want to compromise my enjoyment :)

I can say that a 3090 really does those games justice. I've got an Index and I can run those games at max detail at 90fps with 150% supersampling, which probably puts the resolution near the range of the G2.

That's 2468 x 2740 right? If so, that's approximately 70% on the G2 (2644x2558). The G2 be crazy.

It's great, it really is. Seeing it through the lenses of the G2 maxed out compelled me to purchase a load of DLC, and start shoving some serious time in to it.

It's worth hanging on in for the G2, it looks exponentially better than it does on the Index. Cockpit detail and dashboard definition is where it shines.
