For those who asked, most were for friends, the boss and work colleagues.

Two I sold to ocuk forum members at cost.

I should have had a 3rd spare but my boss now says he wants 3 :(

I have 6 more on order from BT (whether they come is unknown, no despatch date to them) and 4 on order from Expansys from 23rd August.

So I may have 11 up for grabs or none. I can;t say more than that now.

It's quite interesting how many dozens are being sold on ebay everyday at the £170-200 range. I wonder if HP could have still managed to create the same hype with that price to begin with.

No, as it's the simple fact it was £400 now £89 that has driven this frenzy - people simply love a bargin.

If they'd launched at £200 I've no doubt they'd have sold much more and been more successful but it wouldn't be anywhere near the hype it has now.

What it has shown is that there is a thirst out there for a reasonably priced competitor to the iPad - I shall be watching the Amazon tablet closely.

tell your boss to stop being greedy, you should just tell him you didnt get that many and give him 1, in fact nobody should have been allowed to buy more than 1 in the first place, then we wouldnt have all these ebay profiteers.

I don't get this hate over the ebay profiteers - we live in a free market, it was always going to happen.

Unless most in this thread are closet socialists of course :-P "1 per customer" is very left wing :-)

I would except I used his (company's) account to buy them on from BT so can hardly not give him what he wants :(

I might say there are only 2 left and the others are all accounted for but this morning he has already accused me of selling the remaining 5 on Ebay at profit!

Likening murder to making a small profit on an extra touchpad? Really?

Oh, and we DON'T live in a free will society but you're trolling so I'll argue no more.

I'm not understanding the love for them?
If people had not taken the **** and only ordered in one or two then there would have been more to go around at £89/£115 and a lot more happy people.

I've got my pad - But it was only ever my intention to buy the one.
Sure I could have bought more, I had both opportunity and funds, but decided not to.
In hindsight I wish I had bought more and passed them on at my cost.

It all depends which side of the fence you're on.
If you've managed to get a few of these pads then of course you all for it - think it's great.
If however you're sitting there, now a week after the original deal not having been able to get one then I expect you're feeling pretty ****** off about all these people with multiple orders.

Ahh, so it's jealousy/envy then?

I get it now.

It's a gadget (and not a brilliant one at that), hardly the end of the world is it?

I bought two and sold one for £220 which nearly covered my cost for the other, I don't blame people for buying up tens then selling them for double, if I had put more effort into it I should have done the same but then I'm happy with my very cheap touchpad.

In one sense the true free market is a form of socialism. Companies are in essense "controlled" by the general public, they dance to our tune or suffer the consequences.

Also there is supposed to be a risk involved, this whole thing is too much like welfare handouts for the already wealthy. Courtesy of HP of course.

No - companies control consumers, via advertising, hype and yes, firesales.

Why do people suddenly feel they "need" an item they had no interest in only a few days before? And then feel agreieved that they have missed out?

There is a risk involved - it may come to pass that once the hype has dies down those on ebay may not even sell for £89. And what if you've got a faulty one in you nice unopened box?

You know what they say though, money breeds money.

Would love to hear more on this.

"No"? You are aware that the mere fact you have a different opinion does not make you right.
