Poll: HP TouchPad - $99 in US - any sign of UK drop?

If anyone ordered a touchstone dock from Argos at full price, just to let you know - I spoke to customer services today and they have refunded me the difference, though this was not put through automatically like it was with the touchpad - I.e you do need to contact them.

I'm an HP employee and last week my own order was cancelled by EPP when I called them, I would be surprised/shocked/frustrated if stock was being allocated for us. Mind you with all the confusion and my luck I wouldn't put it past them to cancel mine and then start filling backorders...

..This also happened to me. I thought I scored it lucky with a 16gb for £69.99. Obviously it was too good to be true.

So let's have a round up of the rumours then..

@Greebo Genuinely nice to see someone trying to help forum members as opposed to making a quick buck. Kudos.

+1 Greebo has handled this better than HP, Amazon and a lot of the other retailers combined.

Yeah no matter what happens about that stock Greebo, thanks for sharing the ones you got so far.

I can only hope those come in and I'm lucky enough to get one.

I do think that large scale selling shouldnt have been allowed to via non business channels though.

Also for reference I've always wanted a touchpad since I saw them at HPs event, but couldnt justify the £400 cost that came with it.

If you look on HUKD and Moneysavingsexpert there are some sources to back up some of these rumors, whether or not they made these sources up or the sources actually know what there on about though is another matter entirely.

Looking through the HDUK forum, it looks as thought all the recent expansys orders are being cancelled.

I can't catch a break!

My order was placed at 8.51am. I am pretty sure I was one of/the first person to order considering I had been running firefox addons overnight. I also posted on here right after so some of us might still have a chance.

Got mine placed at 8:39. They didn't cancel mine either, cancelled it myself. If you check their twitter they have discontinued it as they cant source any discounted stock with suppliers at all.

So there is stock out there... just no ones going to discount it I'd guess.

Yeah. It seems odd that everybody (non business) who ordered from Babs (owned by BT) eneded up getting their order reduced to 1 yet as a business customer I was allowed to place an order for 6 and later 10 even when they were showing no stock for customers to buy.

Well I for one am glad it is all but over, I did not get one, but that tale can be told by many on here and elsewhere, I wont pay inflated prices, looking at the amount on ebay it does make you wonder how many people actually do want one vs the need for greed.

Saying that I am not angry at ebayers, dissapointed in the retailers that they aloud this gluttony to take place, a simple 1 per household would have stopped all this in it's tracks, it is to late implementing it after the horse has bolted.

You can not blame people, esp when we are consumed by shows that continually warn us that nice guys finish last.

What was it Alan Sugar once said, "buy low sell high, get that right and in buisness everything else will come later"

Well Sir Alan pop along to ebay and have a look, Gordon Brown would be jolly pleased. As long as it is Europeans living in this country are the ones selling them of couse!

Thing is are they not waiting for HP to hurry up on their end? Look at it like this, either HP sends them the money to discount the stock/reimburse recent buyers, or it will all stay on the shelves/returned and be left unsold. The stock will never sell at RRP so it makes sense they are pursuing HP for the compensation.
