HRT

Pay drivers don't have the same stigma that they used to, virtually the entire grid are or have been pay drivers to some extent at some point.

Back in the day a pay driver was a wealthy individual who could afford to buy themselves a drive. No talent was required beyond being able to convince the FIA to let you have a super licence. Nowadays you can't get a drive without either having already proved yourself as a top line driver or by bringing a large sum of money to the table, the sums required these days mean that no-one is paying for the drive out of thier own pocket, it's all corporate backed and you're not going to get that backing without being a good driver.

some of the current drivers only did a couple of seasons in lower formula.

you dont really need that much experience or to be one of the best to get a super license.

how much is it now for the entry fee ?

$500'000 plus $6000 per point scored. This goes to the FIA.

The $40million is the bond that needed to be submitted to FOM for entry of a new team. Only submitted once and you get it back through transport costs and the like.

So buying HRT saves you £39,500,000 up front over just going in as a new entry?

Although... I'm sure the teams agreed to waive the 'new team' fee for Brawn, but they bought Honda, so maybe that £40m would still apply to the new HRT owners? But they may choose to waive that too.

Best sack all the managers from every team then, as no team in F1 makes a profit.

That isnt strictly true , although it does depend on how one defines "profit".

Its impossible to say how valuable Ferrari, McLaren , Mercedes and Red Bull find the "free" advertising / wins, from 3 - 4 hours every other weekend plus all the websites /daily papers.

(Renault of course get some benefit too, but as they dont currently own a team they benefit less than those above but also put less cash in, if anything at all. I dont know for sure, but Im guessing Renault are in profit now from selling their engines, given the initial astronomic development costs)

Lads club together and mack OCUK racing? Get some sponsorship of OCUK and anyone else we can land (maybe some MSI stuff or something), land any half decent pay drivers and try to get Gary Anderson to cobble together us a car for the first race.

Go onnnnnnn...

That is the fourth time I've seen almost the same thing, on other websites/forums :D

I'll be the development manager, and as my first rule.. Copy Red Bull ASAP.
