Anyone know what pressures F1 tyres run at?

Not very high at all I doubt, in karts we hover between 10 and 12psi on slicks

A friend of mine working on WSR cars said they run only slightly higher

I'd imagine around 14/15psi on an F1 tyre but I could be totally wrong there

Sorry to go off topic.

Howler, just spotted your karting sig and noticed the CP karting circuit actually isn't far from our group that go karting, is it a good circuit? Know any other good outdoor ones in the south west? Cheers

Clay is a great circuit I love it there. There is also Dunkeswell (Mansell Raceway), if you're doing hire karts then all their karts are no older than about a year and run LPG

I went there a few months ago in the hire karts and it was good fun, you don't get to do the whole circuit though which is a shame

Hmm, you might end up with Team Tampon, Femfresh Motorsport or Menopause Racing

Main Sponsor: Bodyform
Femfresh F1? Sounds OK to me. :p

David Richards wont give up will he. He said he would never come back to F1 after leaving BAR... then lodged an entry for the slots in 2010. He then said he would never come back to F1 after being denied a spot... and now looks to be in the hunt again :D

I wonder what they would do for branding if he did buy the team? They could use the Aston Martin name. Gulf liveried Aston Martin F1 cars, om nom nom!

Aston Martin F1 would be nice. Can see Brundle doing some appalling jokes if the AM F1s win a race, "Aston Martin vanquished their enemies!". :D

Surely the problem would be buying HRT now is would you be allowed to defer entry till 2014?

Because I imagine what HRT have prepared for 2013 would amount to the 2012 car with a bit of turtlewax on it :p you could enter but imagine you'd have to waste a hell of a lot of money developing a dog of a car which will be obsolete after a year anyway.

Be better off sitting out 2013 and spending the time developing for the new regs.

Do a Honda and just write off the year before it started? They could just go through the motions of 2013 with a dud car and focus all efforts on 2014?

Providing the buyer and all their backers are on board with the idea from the start it could be a good plan.

Best sack all the managers from every team then, as no team in F1 makes a profit.

Well maybe no make money but they cover their losses. F1 is a business if it was making a loss it wouldn't exist. Whether the F1 teams get their money from sponsors or funding from a car manufacturer or from the drivers is neither hear nor there, good managers secure the money to run the team.

Would there be any benefit of running the race weekends as extended test sessions? i know there is a big rule change from 2013 to 2014 but i dont know how much of the 2014 car could be tested in 2013

They may well create value in terms of marketing or brand image as one part of a larger corporate strategy, but they do not make money that would be termed a 'profit'. Spending only all the money that is available is not breaking even or covering losses either.

to be honest this is exactly what I expect to happen if a new entry is announced to replace HRT any time soon.

Its not going to be like the "rebranding" of Brawn to Merc, it will be more like a complete / thorough change - and that cant possibly be ready to race in less than 4 months at Melbourne 2013

The way I see it is that any new entry's best asset is that no-one knows how competitve they are going to be (and surely they HAVE to be more competitive than HRT themselves), so the last thing they really want to do is start racing for real even slightly unprepared.

If they buy HRT's 2013 design and race with that, I just cant see much of a benefit to the new team. While you can get your new crews trained etc, with such big changes for 2014 internally and probably externally as well (and some external rule changes may not be confirmed until late next season), Im wondering whether the FIA would even allow anyone to test a 2014 chassis (with a 2013 engine, I presume this would be technically possible) next season during a race weekend

The other factor is if they do somehow manage to run / race a fully 2013 car from Melbourne '13, even if they have already stated 2013 is just a testing session for them, would the team be demoralized by being in the position they are - it would be hard not to be, even for professional racers.

I would guess they would keep the HRT name for 2013, use another dog of a car and work on the 2014 car and team during the season, rebranding it in time for 2014.

Won't be Aston Martin branded - AMRs clout comes from their large engines and they can't showcase those in F1.

More likely to be a large Chinese sponsor brand name.

AMR Prodrive?

Aston Martin as the team name, and brand the engines Prodrive?

Or Cosworth, as there are rumours around Richards looking to buy them up too.

Although I doubt they would be able to get their own engine in for 2014 anyway, so it would be AMR Mercedes, AMR Renault or AMR Ferrari. Either way, the engines will not be AM branded.
