HUB: Intel 13700K vs AMD 7800X3D

How much is eco105? This is my 13900k @ 125w

Your 7950x is damn impressive. The 7800x 3d on the other hand, ouch. Highly inefficient.
The 7800X3D would probably get a bit more than 15K as it could boost more. The 7950X at 90W is much more power limited. Think they get 18.1K at full power so probably don’t drop much at 105W.

ECO 105W, think its ~140W.

Regarding power use.

6 watts more Vs 13700K, that does not bother me. Coming from a raptor lake 13600k, I much prefer AM5. LGA 1700 is a eol after the needles refresh coming this year, who wants to invest in a power hungry, hot, end of the line setup.

I don’t think Intel is going to refresh for a year now. Seems the soc 1700 desktop parts have been placed on hold. Make sense though, as Intel need to half its power consumption and gain 30% performance just to look competitive against the 7000 range 12-15 months later.

But yeah, at around £450 the 7800X3D is pretty spectacular CPU.

I agree with you. Even if we disregard this enormous difference in power consumption during gaming, Intel's platform is dead. It's simply hard to find an argument in favor of Intel.

Yeah, for gaming with a high end GPU and it’s 7800X3D or you wasted money.

Out of the box definitely yes, but not for me when tuned. I would say it you look at the first chart, from Watch Dog legions down the 13700K was faster and definitely the smoother gaming experience. I sometimes got a bit of a stutter with the 7800X3D which I never did with 13700K. I don't have the high power usage the HUB seem to have and my 13700K runs the same temps as my 9700K so easily cooled by my AFII 420mm.

I'm probably an edge case and for the vast majority of people who don't want to spend hours fiddling with settings and just want to plug and play and only game then the 7800X3D is an easy choice.

I’m pretty sure the heat output of your 13700 is a lot more than 9700K. The 9700K was one of the last Intel chips with sane levels of power use.

Was that on games with DLSS 3? It's a known issue, witcher , cyberpunk, diablo 4 have excessive stuttering on zen 4 when you enable FG. Nvidia is on it I think, they might have fixed it already, dunno.
No DLSS 3, this was playing Spider-man Remastered, Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor, Far Cry 6, CP2077 and a few others.

That is while I'm gaming. Remember I have HT off which also brings the heat output down. So having both of them I can assure you they are pretty much the same.
