He hit Ricciardo because of a simple and small lock up.
The safety car helped Rosberg as much as it helped Lewis - Rosberg could have gone onto the option and won this race. Instead he was too conservative, and then he gave himself a puncture by not paying attention to where Ricciardo was.
This race had nothing to do with any sort of luck for Hamilton. They just both had a very poor race day.

Do the drivers get penalty points for any of the infractions today, because Maldonaldo would be running close to a ban after that?

Maldonado needs to be banned, fined, and given a few hours of community service after that display.
Yeah, he was lucky that despite all that, he still extended his lead!
I honestly wondered why he wasn't black flagged. 5 penalties (was it?) in a single race. Flagrant disregard for safety and the rules.
But then you could argue Rosberg was just as lucky that Hamilton didn't have a storming race and extend his lead even further

To not see it as a lucky save for Hamilton would be a bit strange.

Need to start some Maldonado Rule Break Bingo next race.
