HUNGARORING - BUDAPEST - HUNGARY Grand Prix 2009 - Race 10/17

thats good but iam doubting that we will see massa in a f1 car for the rest of this season :(

Have to wonder how this will affect Rubens as well. He was hit pretty hard by Senna's death as well as having his own close shave the same weekend and after his comments following the last race already seemed likely to retire at the end of the season. I'm wondering whether he'll bother to stick it out now after being involved in this or if he'll decide to call it a day while he can.

All the news reports that are saying "Life threatening" are just going for gripping headlines I believe.

James Allen's reporting on twitter that FM's brain scan has gone through clear and his personal doctor is happy with the results.

I think he'll be out for more than one race though. :(

James Allen, hardly a reliable sorce himself...

Have you actually read his blog since he stopped commentating? Or just still on the "hate James" bandwagon?

Yes and still think he is a ******

Why did Allen stop commentating? Surely he did a better job than Leg-end.

"Its redbull from redbull"

Heres hoping that Massa comes out ok and has a speedy recovery! He comes across as a nice chap on the telebox.

Because Auntie Beeb realised that he was as useful as a condom machine in the Vatican and didn't bring him across.

Legard is better, but not much.

Crofty should be in there instead - although he's pretty good with Davidson.

However, the fact he made no attempt to turn away from the impact suggested a further problem with the steering.

Err, what. He was knocked the **** out! If he wants to steer, the wheel moves. Whether the wheels moves that's another story but hey ho. Daily Fail ***.

Fingers crossed he makes a full race ready recovery soon. 'What are the chances?' part two it seems. The chances of getting struck in the head must be minimal in the sport, so twice in the space of a week is tragic.

Who are Ferrari going to race in Massa's car tomorrow?

Schumi ???

They can't. Whoever would take his place would need to qualify first. They'd also need to fix the car too.

Their current test drivers are Marc Gené and Luca Badoer so it would be either of them if they could.

GPUpdate.net has learned that Massa has suffered from bleeding in the brain as a result of the cracked skull and could miss the remainder of the season as a consequence.

Well I kind of knew something was wrong when Massa wasn't getting out of the car or trying to. I think Brundle said perhaps he's too far into the tyres to get out, but I just thought that Massa would still be trying to get out. Just like Schumacher at Silverstone in 1999. He tried to get out but gave up when he realised he couldn't. Hopefully he'll be OK and recovers. As said earlier it doesn't matter that he returns to F1, just that he's OK. :) Bit like with Da Matta. Just concentrate on getting better.

Can anyone see Ferrari bringing in Badoer or Gene to sub for Massa from Valencia onwards? I can't. The last time Ferrari needed a reserve driver was in 1999 if my memory serves me rightly. And they got Mika Salo in. I just can't help but feel that Ferrari might ask Herr Schumacher (the 7 time world champ one ;)) to come back for a few races. Anyone else see that happening?

No-one. Once qually starts that's it. No driver changes.

I reckon Schumacher for Valencia onwards. He still tests the cars so must surely be fairly fit. And he wasn't a bad driver in his time. :p

Luca Badoer I'd presume... as that's our normal test driver isn't it? Other than him I'd expect Marc Gene perhaps?

My thoughts are with Massa tonight... such a huge crash and such a shocking moment... this after the death of Henry Surtees this week in Formula 2 as well...

:(

It would be awesome PR, more people would watch Schumacher's come back race than any other race! I really can't see it happening though, would he even want to, given the car's not that great.

I don't think he ever drove the current spec cars. With such limited testing didn't he say he'd let the race drivers have all the time? I don't think the testing is an issue though. You can clock up over 100 laps on a Thu an Fri which would be enough for MS to learn the car. Is he fit? I'd guess so, he's still been pretty active and he has four weeks 'til Valencia.

Most likely? Massa will recover within four weeks. If he doesn't recover it's more likely to be Badoer or Gené. Schumacher is the wild card, an unlikely but awesome choice.

that would bring a hell of a lot of fans back if Schumacher was to return for a few races

i would be more interested for one, seen as i can't remember last time i watched a full race with out falling asleep this season

quali today was a complete balls up

Getting Schumacher in would be amazing. I'd love to see him racing in modern F1 against Hamilton / Alonso and the flying Redbulls/Brawns :D

I'd like to see it too but he'd be stupid to do so, he won't win many (if any) races in that Ferrari and his messiah image may take a bit of a beating.

Missed quali today, what are the chances that I miss the craziest quali of the season?

Glad to hear that Massa is stable, could not believe the accident. Another freak, bouncing object. Did not look good at all.

I have to say, I think James Allen's blog is fantastic. I may not have thought he was a decent commentator, but his reporting is absolutely spot on. A great read and a good insight.

Of course, pole for Alonso, awesome!

For surgery on damage to his skull? I will be amazed if he even makes it back for the last couple of races of the year. He isn't in contention and it isn't worth the risk.

Another big bang to the head and it could all be over for him.

After Petr Cech had a skull fracture he was warned too early a return could end up being fatal and thats just football.

Nah I dont think we will see massa again for a while.
