Hyundai W241D-PVA

got 2 questions with this screen.

how hot does it get? mine after a while starts to get rather warm and you can feel it a little bit on your eyes from just over arms length.

secondly how do i get the usb connectinos to work? i plugged in my usb stick and it did nothing. am i right in thinking that they connect to the pc rather then they are there just for the monitor?

The top of mine is warm , but ive no idea how you can feel it on your eyes :D

The usb is just a hub, and you wil need it connected to the PC with the supplied lead.

oh is that what that cable is for, figured it was just like an extension cable or something.

yeah it gets rather warm, not on my eyes i can just feel tiny bit of heat but when touching the case its warm.

Hi guys

Well after a bit of testing it appears that my hyundia 240d pva panel does suffer from ghosting i have been testing it with some games from my pc/360 and the ghosting is noticeable around the outline of objects but on general desktop stuff its not obvious.

I have taken a short video of the ghosting using my rubbish mobile phone so sorry about the quality but you can see the ghosting.

If you want to run the video test software yourself you can download it below i used the wmv 1080p version.

I would imagine that the ghosting could be fixed with a firmware update but i am not that fussed myself my firmware on my monitor is av3.50 btw.

i get some ghosting on my 3ms tn panel with that video (grey and blue sections). i'm not suprised at all there is ghosting on the PVA panel, but do you see the reported inverse ghosting issues?

I've got no inverse ghosting on mine screen. There is some ghosting on the black to white, as would be expected but little on the blue and grey areas. Overall I'm very pleased having checked that out.

hi all,

i have the tn version of the w240d, but recently its devloped this high pitched sound after the screen has been on a while.

its not that audible, but when its quiet you can hear it.

i read around about backlight "buzz" - is this it?

If it is, what should I do? It was only bought a few months ago.

thanks

No ive not seen the reported inverse ghosting on mine.
Is it your camera ? Because I'm seeing inverse ghosting in your video, not normal ghosting. Black circle at grey background is leaving lighter trails than the background - that's inverse ghosting. With normal ghosting (without overdrive), moving black object would leave black trails (or more precisely darker trails than background).

Regards

Well my first W241D is in for repair for the very same problem, after getting in touch with Hyundai tech they say they are testing it for long periods as they cant find the fault :(

I will let you know what the outcome is

good luck with that, still shocked ocuk have piced mine up for a swap where as they sent you to hyndia to get it sorted. So what happens now if they say they can't find a fault even though there is one? been a long time now so would have thought you can no longer return it to ocuk under distant selling act or is that out the window once the box has been opened?

Does anyone know how much the boxed monitor weighs? Unfortunately mine has broke (loud whoosing sound then screen goes blank).

I need the weight to pay for postage to return it for a refund.

Cheers

Well i think the problem was that i picked mine up from the shop rather than online, so the DSA sort of goes out the window i think when you do that. Think in future i will order things like monitors online to get that extra protection.

My 19" Hyundai Imagequest Q995 CRT has died and I am looking for another monitor. I have done approx 3 days of research and the best monitor that I can see is this W240D-PVA (I've no interest in the W241D version with USB Hub).

I play games 50% of the time, photoshop 20% of the time, movies 20% of the time and web surfing etc 10%. Is there any reason not to get this monitor?

I ideally want a 22" as 24" is a little large but they all appear to be TN panel...

There is no reason not to get this monitor. Its fantastic.

But they're not all TN panels, i have the W240D PVA panel (as sold by OcUK). Also, i wasn't aware they did this monitor in 22"?

Also, if you're doing photoshop, you should definately opt for a PVA monitor (as everyone says, its the way forward!)

They don't do this monitor in 22", I was just saying I would prefer a 22" over a 24" due to price and lack of desk space (I am referring to any brand, not just Hyundai). But I do not want TN panels as I use Photoshop a lot. If my desk can hold this monitor, I will definity get this Hyundai (PVA version). My biggest fear is ghosting... I do not want to see ghosting while I game but hopefully that shouldn't be a problem.

Now what happens if I get a dead pixel? What are my options? I understand Hyundai won't replace a monitor if it has less than 6 dead pixels. I do not want to spend £400 on a monitor only to find I have a dead pixel (or two). It would bug the hell out of me.

Unfortunately you can't do anything about dead pixels on LCD monitors - its luck of the draw. although i have heard some people say you can get a £30 pixel check done from some places?

I have 1 dead pixel, but tbh - i can't even see it....and i paid £120 less for my one, so meh

What's this DSA I hear about?

About this pixel test that cost £30.. I don't understand. Say I buy an LCD from overclockers.co.uk, I don't need a test to see if I got a dead pixel, I can see for myself by using my eyes. Unless overclockers does the test for you?
