Thanks again everyone for your support .. I've also had a few nice emails so thank you :)

I'm going away this weekend .. Only got this morning in work WOOOOT !! :D

I've been looking and looking for jobs in swansea but there really is nothing about :/

Reading this sounds like a complete lack of respect at your work.

Time to do a bit of thinking.. is it time to move from Swansea? Perhaps reduce that travelling distance?

Your young, and there isn't anything stopping you doing what you want.

I'm going to be moving to Essex Nick :)

What about Piggy's pad?

Sorry to hear about your work woes, but I remember hmmmm about 2 or 3 years ago you helped sort out my broadband problems very quick and professionally.

It was weird speaking to someone who I'd never met before, but had spoken to them online! I reckon you were the first 'online' person I'd spoken too!!

The Persecution of Piggy continues ..

I have been told off today for wearing a skirt which has been deemed " Too Short "

I wore this skirt into work yesterday and nobody said anything .. The Skirt is about 2" above my knee so it's not as if I'm wearing a bloody mini skirt or something

Really had enough now

/makes doc appointment

They really have got it in for you havent they. Either that or they're taking the ****. Like is said before, i work in a call centre and do pretty much the same job as you. There have been some girls sent home for wearing tops that show too much cleavage, which is fair enough but a skirt 2" above the knee? No i dont think so.

surely sitting at a desk really makes the whole short skirt argument pointless ? its not like you're dealing with customers face to face.

Its an office environment and there is a dress code. I think its more the fact that short skirts and low tops etc are a supposed distraction.

We can wear pretty much what we want except the above, sleeveless tops, shorts and football shirts.

The Dress Code has only been in force for about a month or so .. we used to be able to wear anything

I'm really annoyed because nobody told me off yesterday and I wore the same skirt ffs !! .. I could understand if it was really short but it's not !!

I haven't ironed the trousers I normally wear because I've been away this weekend .. I might come in with wrinkly trousers instead and see what they say :p

That should do the trick

WTF?!
How picky :(

Get out of there!

I operate on a two tier helpdesk, supporting POS equipment and PCs, im also responsible for sales data backups/retrieval/monitoring.

As such, on first level we are expected to deal with, and solve all but the most major problems, or connectivity issues due to service provider faults. No one hounds me on how long i take on calls, i work to my own pace, and deal with all the calls i feel i need to in a day.

Its the most efficient helpdesk i have ever seen!

The key is working in Internal support, working for one company, and if you can avoid it, dont work with the general public.

Ahhh, you've reached the "picking on" stage. Where you aren't actually doing anything wrong really but you're hauled up over everything and anything possible. It seems to go in "turns" at work here, where one poor sod will be victim for a month or so until they either get forgotten or quit.
At the moment it's one of our more senior members of staff. Every single day she'll have call after call after call monitored - nobody says anything to her about it, they just listen to her on loudspeaker for an entire morning. Then she will be moved all over the office to different desks, sometimes several times a day. They won't let her go home if it's quiet (they normally do), they won't pick her for any educational trips (mini-holidays where we go round inspecting hotels), they will badger her for overtime and give her a guilt trip if she won't come in, if she asks a favour or puts in a holiday/rota request it will be ignored as much/for as long as possible, any minor misdemeanour she makes during a booking will be made into a very big deal........

I see it happen to so many people here (including me!) I'm just glad my turn has been and gone. It's quite pathetic really, these people are meant to be adults. What makes it even more amusing in this particular case is that she's performing excellently at the moment and is one of the last people who needs extra scrutiny!

Anyone know much about constructive dismissal?

Sounds like it could be slowly heading that way...
Also - maybe bullying in the workplace...

Give me a call/msn as well sometime - still need that little natter. ;)

Back to assembling servers... :(

Get yourself on the Pat & Mick Piggy. No job is worth the **** that you are getting at the moment. Go to the Doctor and get a sicknote. You will make yourself ill with worry. Have you thought about 2 other things as well ?

1) Citizens Advice or legal practice. Are you being treated unfairly or being singled out for any reason ?

2) The press. Have you considered that one to let them know how badly both the service provider and the service receiver are treated like penned animals.

I was desparately unhappy in my last job 5 years ago and I took the bull by the horns and changed my life. I now have a different career in which I am happy.

Don't be unhappy. Make a change starting today.

Take that as Uncle Von advice. :)

EDIT ....

Good idea Lc, but there can be legal implications in taping conversations. I would be certainly be noting down times, dates and events though for any future reference and use.
