"I hate smokers" thread

You shouldn't hate them, you should pity them.
A drug so addictive that even though they know what it's doing to them and more than likely know several people who have had agonising deaths through smoking, still go on and do it because they are incapable of fighting it.
Whenever I see somebody light up I just think 'What a shame'.

Well yeah I'm sure when they die an early death from cancer and realise that they might not live to see their daughter graduate or meet their grand kids then the reality will sink in that they've been really retarded.

Problem is there are some almost militant smoker types living in denial who get really defensive about smoking etc... I don't care less if they get cancer etc.. but they could at least be considerate to others in the way they go about smoking.

Most just come up with the most pathetic excuses.

Two of the best:

1) A mate who lost his Mother, Father and 2 brothers to smoking just said that the odds were now in his favour.

2) My Brother In Law who had been warned over & over by his GP to stop smoking ended up having a heart attack and an operation to put some shunts in.
He stopped for a couple of weeks and then announced that it had taken about 36 years for his arteries & veins to be clogged and now they've been cleaned out he's got another 36 years.

My all time favourite is the OCUK poster who declared that he was afraid to give up smoking in case it gave him cancer - I kid you not.

I know what you mean and I do pity them :).

However I have made better attempts to be a 100m sprinter than many people have to stop smoking. Most just come up with the most pathetic excuses.

That's because most smokers are weak willed, there's multiple people at work who quit smoking every 6 months or so, they always go back to smoking.

People going on about fat people, I do wonder sometimes if food addiction is harder to quit than smoking, considering a lot of fat people are fat due to emotional issues, or just a completely bad relationship with food and how they think/feel about it.

Not to mention you can't buy patches or gum to help you quit binge eating and there's a lot less help groups etc for fat people.

I've lost over 5 and a half stone this year and I know it was hard getting my head in the right place and I had to completely change the way I thought about food.

True they do still stink themselves, he can smell his own smoke though he sprays deodorant after smoking. Doesn't even make sense he is always cleaning his house and hyper sensitive to smell he's OCD clean but smokes.

Is it just me or does this thread consist of the non-smokers saying that it's disgusting and the smokers saying 'deal with it'?

Personally I find the smell vile, and also the smell from cigarettes gives me a terrible headache.
A friend of my house-mate smokes outside but when he comes back inside he 'drags' the smell with him so I can smell it throughout the house, yuck.

mglover you seem to have an axe to grind about smokers. Were your parents brutally murdered by a smoker or something? There's having a moan and there's sounding like a bitter little bitch.

Smoking degrades health, gets people stressed when they need one, kills them, stinks and costs lots of money.
There is no upside to it. Nobody in my entire family smokes and as a result I really notice the foul, sickening stench of it.

In the future, smoking will hopefully be made socially unacceptable. In a way it is a shame that it can be used to make so much money from it as otherwise it would be far easier to just ban it.

We have freedom of choice but it seems millions of people in Britain aren't bright enough to think for themselves.

You posted that while I was typing most people are too thick to think for themselves. This is some nice clarification of my point.

Pretty much - its a good illustration of why we needed a law in place to force them to go outside to smoke.

Says the overweight man. lol.

It's very simple to lose weight buddy. You stop putting food into your mouth and get off your **** once in a while.

Why has this turned into a fatty bashing thread?
Being fat doesn't automatically mean you stink and also doesn't kill other people nearby*

*No I am not obese :p. I love a good laugh at fatties but smokers are far higher up on my list of things that **** me off.

Doing both of those thank you and I've actually lost a lot of weight, where's by the sounds of it you're still smoking, which if you use your logic should be very simple, just stop buying and smoking cigarettes.

I really like a cup of tea and a cig though. I imagine it's much like your love for cake. A bitch isn't it?

I'm actually glad I have to go outside to smoke now, smoking is now awesome due to the amount of conversations you have with random people, but then you get the non smokers you are with moaning that they get left alone while everyone goes outside for a smoke. Well, tough, we were forced to go outside so not our fault.

I've been smoking for close to 16 years now, I enjoy it and am happy to keep smoking. I know there are health risks, but there are risks with pretty much everything you do now.

as a smoker, i feel honoured that people pity me.

i know it's bad for me, i know it costs a fortune, i don't like it in my life but it is an addiction. it's my life though.

Which is fine, as long as you smoke away from others and realise those sitting close to you on a bus, at work etc. want you to keep away as you stink.

My brother (who is an almost-qualified GP) has seen smokers in hospitals dying of lung cancer. Perhaps you should think about that next time you inhale a lung full of toxic chemicals.

No because as I said, my mindset regarding food is completely different now, I eat cake like once a month, I bet you smoke far more cigarettes in the same time period.

and how did you think about food? props to you for doing something about it but you obviously have an addiction yourself, so to bash smokers is a little hypocritical.

Smoking isn't a risk, you WILL get health problems. There are lots of risks in life but that's why you try to prevent them.
