i just got dead space 2 but i'm so disappointed

I'm going to sign up to the EA forums right now and bump his thread, I hope you guys will join me in order to keep his thread on there at the top of the pile.

Absolutely. There needs to be some information on the game stating whether controls are customisable or not. Going to look at the thread on the forums now. :)

i'm hoping if this gets EA to start doing fully customizable controls in they games then maybe we should do the same to other companys

Exactly, as I posted above, rather than go to individual companies, it might be more prudent to go to a major news site, who I'm sure have various contacts within all the major players such as EA/Activision/THQ, and the likes of Microsoft/logitech for peripherals etc

yeah that might be better.

tbh i'm sure everybody would benefit from having fully customizable controls in all games. u shouldn't have to be tied down to only one way to control the game.

Most definitely. Different strokes for different folks. There are over 100 keys on a standard keyboard, and gaming grade mice can have multiple buttons so why the hell shouldn't we be able to remap them to whatever is most comfortable? Makes no sense.....

I've read that 9% of all gamers have some form of disability, thats a pretty big chunk of the market that is being ignored a lot of major developers. :(

i totally agree

we pay good money out for these games and most of them your tied down to only one way to control the game. and for some people it means they can't play it which = waste of money

i bought 4 games in the past £25~ each, i couldn't play them due to not having fully customizable controls , so that meant i wasted £100~ over a month.

enough is enough now tbh.

I've registered at the EA forums, went to add my support to the thread and everytime it just sends me back to the login page?!?

Once I get it sorted I'll add to the thread.

I had the same problems in Firefox and IE. I installed Chrome and it worked first time.

I'm wondering if it might be due to an old account but I've tried using two other email accounts, passwords etc. I'll give it 24 hrs then if nothing has sorted itself I'll have to try to notify a moderator.

Thanks. I will bear Chrome in mind, if nothing works then I'll install that and hopefully that'll sort it.

Hats off to you. That is absolutely incredible!

I don't have much to say to help with this issue but I have signed the petition and I'm registering on the forums now to bump the thread.

Maybe someone who is active on Twitter could try post to EA or the official Dead Space page there. Maybe there would be a reply if lucky :)

That's a bloody disgrace. You've spent all that money on an uber rig, and then you're hamstrung by short-sighted game developers who don't facilitate custom key re-mapping. To make it worse, you can't return/resell the games. On the bright side, when you do get yourself a custom control system you'll have piles of brand-new games waiting for you to playthrough :)

Gareth, much respect for showing us all how it's really done :)

If you need a webcam for FreeTrack, then I have one here ( Microsoft VX1000 ) that I used to use with it that already has the filter removed & works with IR LED's just fine.

It only runs at 30fps, but could keep you going until you get the wii remote ?

If it would come in useful, let me know your postal address via trust & I'll get it sent out to you.

I've left a comment on Kotaku pointing them to this thread. Hopefully people will come and read the thread here and realize that it is not just about Gareths amazing skill but the fact remappable controls can mean the difference between being able to play and not.

Edit: Doesnt seem to show on the main article so will probably go unnoticed.

I agree, it's a shame they didn't include the reason why it was posted. Maybe they just saw it on youtube and not the thread?

Hope they update it with a bit more info about this :)
