i just got dead space 2 but i'm so disappointed

Awesome that you have managed to get this much attention, just read this on The Register!

Game developers should make an effort to cater for everyone, it's not like you're being demanding in asking any button/event to be mapped to any action.

Have you considered running linux/wine and then just using X to remap the buttons of your mouse to become keyboard presses? It may seem a little OTT, but it should work since dead space 2 seems to work in wine.

We emailed a lot of press sites regarding this issue Gareth is having because if enough post this the chances of EA implementing a fix for Gareth becomes more likely, so we have our marketing department also trying to get this up on other big sites as well.

We've also been in contact with EA and shown them this thread and they are looking into it, so fingers crossed for Gareth. :)

cool glad my black op tips help... It is crazy that PC is going backwards. I'd say less than 5-10% of console games have remapping. It is rough on the console side of things.

I am working with a games development company at the moment for a launch of a game that they are working on at the moment. (Can't say too much at the moment as under NDA)

Going to make them aware of this and see if there is anything they can do to help :)

Oh he'll get it for sure I bet... ea will do it. It is rough for console gamers as we need remapping to but are left out in the cold.
 
Wow after a miserable monday, seeing all these developments unfolding is nothing short of fantastic.

Just shows you what people power can do, gareth must be really proud.

it's really good that the whole ocuk community supporting me on this. which tbh will benefit everybody gaming on pc
