****I lied these aren't the rules we're lookin for****

Fair enough then, but it all kicked off for similar reasons. I haven't got a problem with Ace Modder as such, I'm personally just fed up of contradictions between moderators, it makes things like this happen, and I would have thought it'd be something that was spoken about before posted considering the fuss it's caused.

:thumbs up: :)

Because his post thread with a new rule, disappear on Saturday caused this.

In English? ;)

The kindle thread has more than likely been moved to a place where the community cant view till it has been discussed how to proceed. I do not think they would delete a large thread like that untill its all been sorted out.

But that would cause such a storm that it's insane, that would bring in SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Lots of places sell more than one product, the same type of products as OCUK, like Amazon, it'd just be one massive contradiction, but it's only the PC Game section hit with it seemingly.

What would cause a storm? i didnt imply what he would say one way or the other.

All i said is what he says goes instead of various opinions form different Dons,

His company, his forum, his decision, like it or lump it its the facts

Once it comes from him thats the rules

I mean, if it's decided against Amazon, it opens up the question to a lot more things.

Right the situation is that originally it was agreed that Amazon was not allowed mentioning at all. Gibbo also agreed with this.

Now Gibbo has changed his mind. Thus causing confusion.

We now need Spie to clarify.

Because after giving it some thought the banning of companies such as Amazon, Tesco, Play and other supermarkets would really start to make the forum a bit dull if all you could talk about was stuff we sold.

Fact is we don't specialise in games, DVD's, food, DIY etc, yes such companies may try to sell certain computer items and have reasonable sucess, but banning the talk of such companies in regards to their primary business such as books, DVD's, food etc. would be wrong and would no doubt harm the forum and community in the long run.

Spie shall make a decision shortly and his decision shall be final!

So we can't link to the item even if it's not stocked by OcUK?

No links, thats promoting a competitor, feel free to say amazon have such book at a great price.

But to past a link to Amazon from the OcUK forums, taking it a little far, but mentioning them and a deal to an item we don't sell is fine.

This has come from Spie:-

I think it's time we used some common sense here.

Amazon sells everything. Therefore Amazon talk should be allowed providing it does not relate to or even hint at buying products OcUK sells.

So buy a CD from Amazon = allowed.
Check out the price of Graphics Cards on Amazon = not allowed.

Let that be the end of it, if your unsure, simply use common sense!

I don't see what your problem with him is. He's made one post at the same time as Gibbo, yes contradicting and then quoted one post/edited one post that was made before Gibbo's later post.

To be honest, aaron333. I didn't see it as kylew having any issue with me personally. I understand there was still confusion, as it was agreed that no talk of Amazon was allowed, then Gibbo said it was allowed, as Gibbo had a think about the rule and changed his mind. However I was not consulted on this, and we posted at the same time.

I get on fine with kylew and we chat occasionally on Steam, I haven't taken any of this personally. I hope most people feel the same.

Spie has now made a decision and this is fine. Lets all move on now, and have fun

Yes, but games are fine, we sell less than 10 different games, so am fine with games chat and other items we don't sell.

this is the one thing that confuses me the most. we can discus other companies that sell games, coz thats not OCUKs core business.

yet this rule change is being made in the PC Games section of the forum, which in theory is one of the only computer based subforums this rule wouldnt apply to

And if Spie goes with the "No Amazon" rule, does that mean the Kindle thread gets removed?

I could swear Ace or Gibbo said it was deleted there a few pages back.

Shame on you calling for it's deletion though, books are no less a form of entertainment than games! :p

Also, when you do get around to posting the final, final update of the updated finalised and revised rules may I suggest you take a form like this:

OcUK stock product ranges M, N and O
Company A stock product ranges P, Q and R
Company B stock product ranges M, N and O
Company C stock product ranges M, N and P
Company D stock product ranges M, Q and R
Company E stock product ranges M, N, O, P, Q and R

Can name and link: Company A
Can name but not link: Company D and Company E
Can not name or link: Company B and Company C

At no time should you name or link to any company, direct competitor or not, other than OcUK when discussing a Core Product of OcUK.

This way you can give examples of the different scenarios without having to worry about actually listing competitors.

Good to know.

I am going to buy a book from Amazon!!! Beans from Tescos!!!

Just don't mention about anything we sell though.

So a Logitech Mx518! Well I am going to get that from Overclockers UK of course! :)

(That is basically the rules, I hope everyone is happy with this result).

Removal of the kindle thread is disappointing. That was a huge thread with lots of excellent info in it (99.99% of which was irrelevant to OcUK) :( I hope it comes back.

Edit: Just seen the above: good news and very sensible.

So back to Thurdsay's rule it is then.
Anyway - What about the new digital download site then?
