I love AMD

Where does it show the temps on CPU-Z?

It doesn't, was just wondering of the CPU had any power saving options enabled (like speedstep on Intel CPUs). It would account for the low temps :)

The audio quality on these speakers is awesome. They sound really really good, and I'm not just saying that

That's what I thought about the speakers I had owned before I got some real ones :D

No need for the > that was my weather stations internal house reading of 25.5c, and not the outside... Edit: oh misread sorry, your in ice cold room...righto.

Core Temp just showed the first core dip to 20c, and then back up to 21.

I totally understand this isn't a 100% precise reading. My only point all along was that my motherboard wasn't faulty, or giving temps that were too far off what a dedicated app such as Core Temp would

Ive got a AMD 6000+ set up under my desk at the moment (Mates partial new el-cheapo build ive been working on), ill fire it up and see what the core temps are like on that with stock cooler.

Well, 34/37c idle with room temp 25c, not bad tbh considering the horrid airflow of this gross case he wanted to keep (see pic).

So yeah perhaps you can manage the temps your seeing, stand corrected.

Here's the case I have:

Also got the Habu gaming mouse. But I don't really like it :(

what a classic thread, some people just do not want to learn and instead want to live in their little bubble of ignorance. Defend it all you want Ad, your sensor is off and so is your understanding of this subject, so you two pair up quite nicely.

My x6800 overclocked to 6.2 both core temps are at -2 degrees thats with no cooler just me blowing on the cpu. But then again my ambient is very low too

I was too defensive. But I think all the Intel fan boys were well wound up, basically calling me a liar (which I am not).

Anyways not to worry. I hope my screens help clarify the situation

I appreciate you aren't a liar but it was your confusion that sparked this debate not people's fanboyism.

If you look at your original post you can see why people would be trying to correct you.

16c constant temp, and XP is running like lightning.

Regardless of what you say 16c is too low even too be idling in the bios. That's not even considering if you have cool 'n' quiet on ( which I don't think works when you're in the bios).

What's your problem?

I've already said that I acknowledge the reading my not be 100% accurate.

I installed every app people told me too. Core Temp is still showing a stable 23c, and that's after my machine has been on for a solid 12+ hours.

When I run stress tests the temp goes up to 35c, and sometimes 45c+

So the sensor is working. It's not broken.

Perhaps you should read some of my other posts before trolling

It's obvious that 16c was a one off temp, that only lasted for a bit, and may indeed have been a few c off.

As one poster said, the CPU cooler was brand new. The cooper plating would have been ice cold, and probably brought the reading down a bit.

However, I've posted screens from within Windows showing a Core Temp application reading of 21c, even 20c, so the motherboard wasn't THAT far off.

Yes, Core Temp may be wrong too. But then the discussion is flawed any way

It's quite obvious you don't know how heat transfer works or you would know that 20c idle temps are just not possible in a normal home on air cooling (even watercooling really)

If you say so.

Quite a few people in this thread have already said it's possible. Especially considering that it's just 7c outside and I have no central heating on

20c is very rare on Core Temp. It's usually around 23c to 24c on the first core, and 27c to 28c on the second core

Thanks :D

I really like AMD, but if you're going to overclock then there's no doubt Intel is king at the moment.

For £95 you really cannot go wrong with this chip though. It's a bargain!

Clocked at 3.2GHz by default, and I won't be going any higher than that

Except for the fact that the 3.2GHz of that chip amounts to about 2.56ghz of Intel power ;)

Well said.
