I love AMD

No offence dude, but that sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. Look at what you just said. Then read the thread about how the CPU can not be below ambient temperatures. ;)

But then again if you read my thread properly you'll see the CPU is indeed higher...

What is the set up, on board or a sound card ?

Well it's definitely not the speakers. I just plugged in my new head phones, and they too make the same noise when playing the music.

At first it was on-board sound. Then I turned that off and plugged in my Creative Audigy SE 7.1. No difference

So if it's not the speakers, not the sound card, then it must be drivers or playing software, right?

I'm using the latest version of VLC

Could be a clash with the graphics card (could be a number of things though). I've seen that twice, they don't like sharing interrupts/DMA. I sorted it by uninstalling the graphics card, while Windows was running at some dreadful low res, reinstall the sound drivers then if the sound was ok the graphics drivers.

Found the sound problem!

It was VLC!

Installed latest version of Winamp Lite and the sound is perfect!

Wow. And I always thought VLC was the best :(

21c in Core Temp! Exactly the same reading as on the motherboard.

Told you :D

And that's after 6 straight hours of being powered on

Scythe rocks.

Edit: Oh, and I have like 5 apps (including Photoshop) running with that temp

So is it 24c or 29c?

I still stick by it being 16c, and then 21c in the BIOS (outside Windows) :D

Comedy. :)

I have very same cpu cooler, been using it a while going from both dual core AMD to Intel builds, and can tell you now that's not the true temp in BIOS and even core temp seems tad off, unless you have two 120mm 4000rpm fans in push pull set up on it... More like somewhere bewteen 28/32 per core and upwards at stock with coolers stock scythe fan, dependent on your case airflow. ;)

Dont get me wrong, this is one great cpu cooler, but not the 'best', just one of...

Then Cool Temp is a useless program.

Know any that show better CPU readings?

Could you just run CPU-z quickly and take a screenshot?

OMG, Andrea Bocelli sounds so good!

I doubt that... I have some of my old creative speakers hooked up to my laptop (through an amp too) and they sound dreadful compared to my 'low end' hifi speakers :p

Unless your room ambient is 12 to 15c, there very little chance those core temps are true reflection at all, imo. Best I managed with 4800+ o/c to 3 GHz was 35c idle with room temp around 25c. Stress tests crept temps to 45c which is still pretty good, had two 1600rpm fans in push pull, and sourced some extra fans clips.

My Quad core's current idle is 38/37/34/34, room temp according to my weather station is 25.5c. Same fan set up as above with AS-5 thermal paste.
