i9 9900k pricing

I cancelled my order importing from the US, nothing to do with price as it was £100 cheaper than here inc taxes but becuase I wanted an easier short term swap for my 8700k and apparently you now need to delid a soldered CPU ;)

Just on those grounds I’ll sit it out and see what comes next, it was a minor upgrade which I was always aware of regardless.

You don't have to delid at all. Plus it's cooler than the 8700k

You do if you want to get the maximum out of it, my delid 8700k is super cool even if clocked at 5.2/5.3.

As I said it’s a good existing CPU so marginal upgrade, which is where it needs deliding for anyone looking to push the performance as far as possible, I appreciate that is not everyone though just my reason for skipping it. -13c delid result on a soldered CPU really shouldn’t be a thing.

Like I said my personal reason, not worth the time, effort or risk considering you have to lap the die also and I was only looking for it if a quick swap given it’s soldered I thought the dream could come true ;)

Well, you don't. You can get 5ghz on all 8 cores without delidding and it's still cooler than the 8700k. That's awesome.

What kind of dream are you looking for when you can get that without delidding?

Zero chance it’s cooler than my 8700k mate, none... Simple truth is delid shaved off around 13c which tells you the solder isn’t not doing it’s job vs. The AMD solder for example where Der8auer tried the same and no gains.

Anyway, I’ve told you why I cancelled either you accept that is my reason or you don’t.

its a shame scaremongers are putting people off buying a great cpu.
It's not a great CPU. It's, at best, a "good" CPU.
A "GREAT CPU" would not run as hot, would overclock higher, would be a damn sight cheaper. etc etc. Lets not get carried away here. the 9900k has some pretty serious issues and will never be placed in the hall of fame.

It's just an insane amount of money for the CPU. Gone are the days when the prices would stay about the same for the latest tech. Ie the old stuff would cost less and the new stuff would cost the same as the old stuff when that first came out. I blame apple!

many people rate the 8700k well it runs faster and just as hot in NORMAL conditions. the problem is many silly people are taking the maximum heat of programs being benched which in real life they will never achieve the same amount of use. so totally waste of time but puts many people off. the cpu is great . infact its amazing. people are just trying to mainly justify not buying them either over price or heat. the heat isnt a issue in normal use neither is the price to those that can afford to pay it. they arent that dear. not for what you get a 8 core 5ghz chip which is very powerful. its not new either hardware tech has always been expensive to early adopters. cpus have been this price since they started and more yet people making out its like its the devils work.

you know if two years ago. intel said we will give you a 8 core chip at 5ghz stable for the price its at this forums would have been like im in buy buy buy. 110 percent. its just how the internet is today. just trash everything. troll everything. the chips fine.

There's nothing amazing about a CPU they could have launched 3-4 years ago, it's a response to competition. We've been drip fed small updates since 2011, but look at the last two years 'real' progress, except it's not. Ironically if Intel had released a 6/8 core desktop part in 2015 then the new competition would be irrelevant, now they are stuck at a dead end until 2020/21 allowing the competition to provide actual real progress and no doubt some amazing CPU's.

Why is it "AMAZING"? What constitutes such praise? The fact it can do 5Ghz? Woohoo! So what? What is its FUNCTION? It's not worth what they're asking, the value is appalling, as every sane person realises. This isn't trolling, it's just FACT. We live in a very strange world where people pointing out obvious fact has become trolling simply because you don't want to hear it!

It's only amazing if you completely disregard these facts, don't care about value and simply want the best CPU which can hit 5Ghz... for no real world benefit (for most people) other than being able to say you have the best and are running at 5Ghz. But yeah, that gets you all the ladies and lots of attention as you walk down the street, so I understand why you're on cloud nine with this CPU.

its faster than anything before for what its meant to be used for. it is a amazing cpu. as said the only thing people are moaning about are price and heat. the heat doesnt matter as its a gaming chip and in gaming its fine just like any other gaming cpu. price it could be priced better but its not that bad for a enthusiast cpu performance part. people have been paying for previous i7 high speed binned chips more .yet a stock stable fast chip is worse value somehow now thats faster

yet again you gone back to value. it isnt a value part. its a enthusiast gaming chip. where not in 100-200 budget amd gaming territory. so your comments shouldnt be related to this chip. only chips in the same price bracket.

How is it "not priced bad"... that's nonsense. And why is value not relevant? Again, makes no sense. You talk such utter drivel, you really do. You can get a CPU that performs within 10-15% (at 1080p ONLY, higher resolutions less) for half the price. You don't IGNORE that CPU just because it's cheaper... well, sane and sensible people don't!! Seriously, you're suggesting because something gets priced so high, it therefore shouldn't be compared to cheaper things that perform nearly the same?? WOW! Really, WOW!

either trolling or just doesnt understand why ? not quite sure with you yet.

How is it "not priced bad" A - its a performance enthusiast part. you generally pay a premium for having a performance part. ford fiesta vs ferrari. you dont need to buy a ferrari. a ford fiesta gets you same place kinda arguement.the ferrari just does it better and faster. thats why you pay the premium price. cause it can. its obviously not about value in anyway.

thats why value isnt relevant in anyway . your not buying it for value. or you would be buying a amd cheap cpu. so value shouldnt even be in a debate with the cpu. that 10-15 percent extra is EXACTLY why people like me or others will buy it ! thats what you dont seem to get or....are just trolling. pretty easy to understand . please dont respond with anything value related as its either pretty stupid or the weakest troll to be played out.something of 80 iq range would do.

This thread is titled "9900k pricing" LOL! You somehow think comments about value are trolling?? Unbelievable.

A Ferrari isn't within 10% performance of a Ford Fiesta. What a ridiculous thing to say. And you're ignoring the resolution factor in all this, given at 1440p/UW/4K, that performance difference diminishes significantly.

MOST people consider value, and again in a thread about the pricing of a CPU, please don't call me stupid for raising this point... it couldn't be more relevant, and it's laughable you would even suggest otherwise. You clearly don't consider value, but that's your right. But again, that 10-15% difference is ONLY at 1080p. If someone isn't at that resolution, then it's even worse value. And if you ARE at that resolution, unless you're a competitive gamer who NEEDS those extra frames, then it's mostly pointless, outside of bragging rights or an enthusiast who just wants a CPU at 5GHz for the sake of it.

Please stop talking about IQ range when you can't even type properly, it's embarassing.

you mentioned value 4 times. the cpu isnt value based. how is that hard to understand ? i can type properly but type like it to see if the person who cant debate a subject in a intelligent way lowers themselve to try and debate about gramma rather than the subject at hand. it does show how clever someone is. as someone with a higher intelligence would debate the topic . not try and slide round it.

Says more about AMD that Intel only have to drip feed us to be better.

I look at CPU's on their own, the 2700x is great and the 9900k is great.
