If next year's consoles do 4k/60..

I assume your pc is about 2500 quids worth?

Including the monitor but its not really the point is it. The point is that the consoles may offer 4k/60 with stuff turned down but at that point I will of had two and a half years of an already superior experience to what they offer. To build a PC capable of what they will offer when they are actually on the market will not cost what I have spent.

I'm not sure people are expecting them to perform like a £1200 gpu, but I think PC elites might need to accept that consoles arent giving people terrible experiences. Infact in my experience my console gaming friends seem to have a far less critical view on gaming than I do, and as a result they get far more fun out of it.

"as developers intended"

Bang on about the less critical aspect but I put that down to the fact I care more about all aspects of gaming and tech while they just hear about a new game and play it.

consoles always cost more than they are to make for the first few years then they win on games sales in the remaining years. so dont always think this would cost this short term.they play for the long term.

The ps4 and Xbox one were never sold at a loss so that’s not true

If you want even more indication of the ps5 specs just look at the PSVR2 patents from yesterday

The PSVR2 headset has the same resolution as a Rift S and 120FoV.

You’d think if the ps5 was twice as fast as a Radeon 7 that they’d be bringing out a more impressive headset..

It's pretty simple, if the new consoles can bring in 4k 60 along with mouse and keyboard most of us will seriously have to think about it as a serious option due to the ever rising costs. Rocket science it ain't as at 4-5 hundred great British pounds it's definitely tempting. Those that accept what's happening in the pc climate well good luck to you. I only built my pc last year for 2k minus the monitor and a 500 pound box is most likely gonna match it. Impressive if it happens.

It won't be twice as fast as radeon 7 but if matches it for 4-5 hundred with console optimization and mouse support it will appeal.

It’s almost a gaurantee that there won’t be native mouse and keyboard support. I mean you never know for sure but if they did then they’d have to split the community because you can’t controller players and mouse players playing together

You can, but it depends on the game. War Thunder has mouse and keyboard players mixed in with those wielding a controller. ;)

60hz or god forbid 30hz with a mouse and keyboard? You trying to make us all ill :( :p

I already play on xim4 4k 50-60fps on cod black ops 4 with the ps4 pro. It's not perfect but good enough to enjoy. With m and k support and 4 x the power it will be decent. Have you tried this or just the usual guy that has no actual experience about what you are talking about.

It's interesting that many PC enthusiasts will happily spend big money on a gpu that gives them a barely perceptible improvement (let's be honest, some people go from 95fps to 120fps and use a benchmark to tell them how satisfied they should be feeling) , yet they won't even entertain the idea of a console offering them different games and a more casual living room experience.

You could almost treat a console purchase like a pc upgrade. Maybe behave like someone who actually enjoys gaming and experience some really good games that aren't available on pc. Best of both worlds.

We all get defensive of our purchases but mature people can appreciate what alternatives offer and don't discredit them just to make themselves feel better.

I’m guessing that 4x the power could mean anything. 4x the raw graphical performance is unlikely, you’d be talking 4x rx580 which no gpu even the Titan RTX could match at £2k. 4x the cpu performance then yeah that’s a given considering the 8 core pentium in the X1X.

I had 60hz a long time ago in terms of keyboard and mouse and have since moved over to 144hz+ which is a far superior experience at least for me a bigger jump than 1080p to 4k. I just couldn’t play 90% of the games I play without it.

I play casually at 60hz with a controller on my OLED with pc, plus yes I have a ps pro and X1X + switch for exclusives. Although they don’t get masses of use but I still enjoy them.

I’ve had a 4k 60hz capable machine throughout the past 5 years with nearly every variation of setup so yes I know what I am talking about.

The downside to everyone poo-pooing consoles and continuing to purchase ridiculously overpriced gpus is that a mid range gpu for 600 quid becomes the new norm.

We need a shakeup so people should really hope that some of these "unbelievable" performance claims are true because it might help fix this broken market.

And for the record Ive had a gtx 1080 for years and I felt it was too expensive at the time.

Then how do you justify a £1000 gpu?

Does everyone suddenly demand 4k 120fps?

I don't really understand what route pc gaming will take. Cyberpunk will be amazing on pc, but if its 4k/60 on a next gen console then why even bother with pc?

The gap seems to be closing and either consoles or things like stadia could finally change the pc gaming world in a way people used to claim for years.
IF they do 4k 60 it will be at lesser detail ... Then there are advanced displays like VR..... And it is unlikely to be 4k 60 with raytracing imo.
Still...... If the gap closes and it forced GPUs manufacturers to cut the pricing more to 2014 gtx 980 era levels that will be good.

That said I play on telly 4k 60 is all in need (when not in VR)
