IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Anounnced with 128 player multiplayer

X52 PRO Ordered - YAY
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GC-043-SK&tool=3

Looks like it was the last one, seemed a good price for the PRO too.

My first HOTAS, really looking forward to it. I have tried playing IL2 with a gamepad and it sucks ***.

I am hoping it brings the same immersion as using wheel and pedals with racing games.

Oh it does, plus you can now fully trim the planes, so they fly pretty much straight all the time, the most crucial one is the Rudder trim, a lot of people forget this one, in most of the cockpits if not all there is a side slip indicator and this indicates which way the plane is slewing, and to correct this you dial in some rudder trim to bring it inline, and the plane actually goes faster and easier to control. The rest of the control surfaces i just generally dial in neutral trim for fighters, but in bombers its again helpful to get all the trims set so the plane is nice and stable in level flight.

German to English translation from the German instruction manual:

To run the game, the Steam service is needed. Please make
Sure Steam is installed
and before the execution of Cliffs of Dover
started.

LOL - Looks like Ubisoft have been trolling their own forum.

Time to grab the popcorn and watch the locals explode when this hits the fan - LOLs.

The Steam haters are going to be ****** if the above is true.

This likely means that product keys will activate on Steam.

Performance killed by UBI forced anti-epilepsy feature, how on earth did it get so far without them being aware that it needed it?

UBI.... If I posted what I think of them, I'd be banned, for good. Every sim, EVERY sim they get their hands on they manage to **** up with their incompetence.

I think we know now why Oleg has had enough.

Yes, but from what Luthier is posting they will have to disable even that, very tempted to cancel my pre-order and wait for others to post performace reports in a language I can read myself.

The dev diary is very interesting, dmg models sound amazing.

Any one else think this engine or Oleg may possibly one day create a whole ww2 sim? They keep talking about how much land based items have improved etc etc etc, then next gen of this game/olegs game could be total warfare, but hard to say if flight sim people would like this or not, would it be a sim of bf style? I'd give it a go for sure.

Oh my, what a mess.

So the developers had to implement something in the "last hour" which has nerfed FPS with little/no time to fix?

I dont see this being a long term issue either way, just more testing I would have thought, unless the entire engine is nerfed.

ARMA/IL2 hybrid?

I have wet myself.

Ha, the desired effect. It would be cool and it will go that way in time, I suppose we already have it in ww2 online but thats very dated now really.

Google will translate most of it, really worried about my spec now.

As a one time epileptic I feel honoured to be treated so well, don't hate lol.

Well, that was unlucky.

The X52 was not in stock after all and clockers were unable to say for definite when more will be in stock so have had to order elsewhere for £3 more (included next day delivery though) so will not fingers crossed get mine on Monday.
