IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Anounnced with 128 player multiplayer

Does this even have a proper coop mode ?
as in people Vs AI ?

Um...... it must do, 1946 was all about the coop + ai.

I don't mind just messing around with friendly dogfights, landings, formation flying, no extreme engine management or I wont actually get off the ground, really should learn how.

Just a friendly reminder that IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover - Collector's Edition box-set is still on sale for £14.99 (instead of £49.99!).
Also Rise of Flight: Iron Cross Edition Download can be had for $9.99 (yes that is USA dollars).
I would be happy to supply link but I think it's against OCUK policy, just Google or pm me for questions.

Not to mention if you fancy driving a tank at some point in the future...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good day gentlemen!

Most of us are busy preparing the beta version of the upcoming patch. We did make a whole lot of FPS benchmarking, and the great news is, it’s all in line with the previously announced numbers. The performance increase is very significant.
Unfortunately we could not do any benchmarks on the famous Black Death track. We know everyone’s been asking about it. The track however is currently broken due to changes in other unrelated parts of the code. We probably won’t get the old version to run anymore and have to make a new Black Death to go with the new patch. So any comparison between the old and the new Black Death will only be approximate (can’t wait for the conspiracy theories BTW).

So our today’s update is small but it’s got it where it counts.

We are showing the third and final ground vehicles video today. As most of you have guessed, it focuses on drivable tanks.

Watch it here:

As always, I’d like to remind you that the feature is still a work in progress. We continue to test and improve the feature.

The sound is far from final. For example we are working on making weapon sounds more varied and historically accurate.

We have also made other changes since the version in which the video was made. The damage model for the vehicles was improved. Destroyed ground objects have inertia and continue moving after death. Component damage system (tracks, crew, gunners etc) has also been improved. Unfortunately due to yesterday being an official holiday we simply had no time to make additional footage and splice it into the video.

Most importantly, I do want to note one more time that at this time we do not know ourselves when and in which shape the feature will make it into the game.

Have a good weekend!

And you actually get the Cloth map with the Collectors edition of IL-2?

I'm wondering if I'll go for ROF or IL-2.

It's not the best quality or most accurate cloth map to be honest, given that RoF can be downloaded and flown for nothing get both :)

Yea what Dano (S!) says for sure.
The way I see it is that I've been waiting and dreaming for this sim for so many years that I was going to get the collector's shiny boxed version of it regardless..:) From what I've read it's buggy and needs so many things fixed etc, but this is part and parcel of something as complex as this for a variety of reasons ...Nature of the beast.
I know it's going to just get better and better with age and as the PC technology and power catch up with it...And to get it all for such a bargain! snap it up man!

All good stuff.

Good show. I downloaded ROF also.
COD's been tucked away in the hanger for some time now and I'm just waiting for delivery of my new wings (PC upgrade parts from OCUK :) ) to get up amongst the clouds.

Tally Ho!

Thanks for the heads up. Funnily enough I found my old copy of Red Baron II in a cupboard a few days ago and remembered how fun on-line multiplayer was years ago and was going to download the free demo version of Rise of Flight.

Just bought Rise of Flight Iron Cross for $9.99 and going to give it a go.

A pleasure and great to hear MP, do let us know how you get on with ROF.
I hear you about RBII and the fun on-line days...For me it was European Air Wars...Wonderful times and always remembered how "energy management" in dogfights was so well done that you really got a sense of earning or losing those extra feet when in a duel etc and all the great characters, laughs and cries along the way...
I also remember how I turned down a first date with my future wife because I was up 24 hours fighting for Queen and country in an epic online battle of Britain match...:D Happy days.

Probably be best to try ROF as you can have Human Vs AI coop mode
sadly at the moment with COD it is Human Vs Human only at the moment

Certainly there were plenty of AI on ATAG last night, I was defending a group of AI wellingtons for a few minutes until I got lost :D You'd have to seek information from somebody more knowledgable than I on how to set it up though.
