IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Anounnced with 128 player multiplayer

Sticking with the CE here, if it turns out to be an issue with steam integration I'll kick up merry hell (sarcasm in case you missed it) then just buy it when inevitably on sale in a month or two.

Performance killed by UBI forced anti-epilepsy feature, how on earth did it get so far without them being aware that it needed it?

Yes, but from what Luthier is posting they will have to disable even that, very tempted to cancel my pre-order and wait for others to post performace reports in a language I can read myself.

Well, I've just cancelled my pre-order. Going to wait and see what happens next weekend and make my descision from there :(

From what i gather, it will run fine on the higher end machine (Even Q6600's and 8800's) mahines and its the guys with Dual cores and older cards that are going to struggle.

Not what I've read, in fact the opposite is true according to some posts.

I just saw this post by Luthier over at 1cpublishing:

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=19472

Hope this allays the confusion and shows they are going to improve the situation.

Depends on how long it takes them, two weeks?

Read some things that the filter can be turned off in the .ini

I'm sure there will be a patch to turn it off or a mod eventually.

The .ini switch is getting disabled, and a patch to remove it will only be forthcoming once they have addressed every single item in the game that has the chance to cause a seizure, which by Luthiers own admission is a lot of work, hense the all encompassing filter.

If I see lots of reports of it running well on mid range i5 sandybridge systems with mid range gfx cards I'll be snapping it up, however until then I'm out :(

Am I right in thinking none of this nonsense applys to the 1C published version?

No.

If so, surely it is highly likely the community will come to the rescue?

As long as one version exists without the restrictions, there is hope.

No version exists without all the restrictions, it's too hard for them to maintain multiple versions, the Russian version will be patched so the .ini fix will not work is what I've read.

Hello everyone,

Once again I want to point out that a lot of your earlier anger was misplaced. Actually, our colleagues at Ubisoft are extremely interested in making this game a success, they care about our opinion and yours, and everyone we work with there is understanding and cordial and more than willing to listen and change their mind.

Having said that, I'm glad to announce that the debacle has been resolved.

We will be making the filter optional, however turned on by default. And we will be adding a large epilepsy warning to our splash screen. I am almost certain that this update will hit the steam servers on March 30th and thus seamlessly make it onto everyone's machines when the game is installed on the 31st.

The March 30th update will also address some of the issues reported with the Russian version, but we'll provide more details with the patch notes once we know for sure what it'll contain. Obviously, we need to test the heck out of all the changes to make sure we don't introduce any new bugs while fixing the old ones (the team's favorite past time lately as it seems).

So there! Do a happy dance, I know I did.

Needs to spend more time looking for a job and less time bitching about how he can't afford to buy a £30 game.

There are known issues with SLI due to the epilepsy filter, patch is due at some point tonight or tomorrow that will allow you to disable the filter and some other fixes.

Yea the other one is the old name, from what it was originally, this is the thread started when it had a name change.

In actual fact the other one was first started in Novemeber 2009 lol.

Yeh, I started it when Oleg started giving us regular updates :)
