Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (2024)

Walk up to door that requires a key:

Press Tab to take key out
Press E to insert key
Press D to turn key

Such a weird decision.

Or X button with a pad and then a direction on the stick to open it.

Think the game was designed with a controller in mind rather than K&M.

It's nothing to do with controllers, the intention is obviously to make actions feel more interactive.

I get the idea, but it does feel pretty pointless. What's weird is that pressing 'tab' (when prompted, obviously) automatically selects the appropriate item from your inventory. Given how often the inventory was required, it's hard to understand why it was even included.

Oddly enough, each action being an individual action reminds me a lot of a VR game where you actually would take a key out, put it into the lock and then turn it, except in this case its being done on a keyboard. Its also the same when opening a chest, you press a key to use the chest and then a key to lift the lid, which again reminds me of how in VR it would be two actions, one to grab the chest lid and a second action to lift the lid.

only played for 30-40 minutes so far but was half falling asleep

is it linear all the way though ? Just if I want to watch cut scenes and pick random objects on floor and place in cabinets, or "pack my bag" - I'd rather skip the boring bits and just watch a movie

Some areas really do open up allowing you to explore. But, yeah, it's also a lot of cutscenes and railroading.

It does that unforgivable sin of cutscenes.... I've just punched my way through a whole compound filled with nazis and yet I get one tapped by a loser who would have had his lights punched out easily, whilst in a cutscene.

I think they forgot to path trace something, can you spot what...

Finally from DF

Half the time i think the "not full RT" looks better.

Things don't just reflect entire scenes all if the time, glass isn't a mirror, floors and metal don't glow. It isn't just this game that does this and I personally think it looks more unrealistic in a lot of cases other than providing texture or subtlety along joins.

PT isn't perfect, but it certainly gives materials, especially metals, a realistic "metal" look and adds depth to detailed scenes as DF's video shows.

Here's one such scene I saw tonight for example:

Supreme HWRT:
nDR8mCP.jpeg

Supreme PT:
GWlQfd3.jpeg

The bell just looks liek it's textured from clay in HWRT mode, whilst on its own would look fine, but the PT shows how it should actually look.

Though in the below scene, PT reflections don't look as good as HWRT reflections, this is due to there being no Ray reconstruction yet as we see the same in Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk when RR is turned off but PT left on.

HWRT:
GWrHRIs.jpeg

PT:
seyEmCp.jpeg

So yeah it does vary depending on the scene in question and luckily in this game you can adjust various PT settings to tailkor the look you like instead of just having a PT on/off blanket.

I've found this in a number of games now, for whatever reason turning on RT/PT makes anything metal and especially any metal coloured gold look so much better and more realistic it's like the whole colour changes and then play on a QD OLED which is also the best screen for displaying gold and it's a chefs kiss

Apart from the mirror and the shadows around the crest thingy on the box, I personally prefer full RT off

I’m loving this game so far but the underground boxing in the Vatican is starting to really **** me off. I’m playing on hard and am getting absolutely demolished by the second fighter. I’ve just recently finished playing lies of p so I should be used to parrying but I just can’t get it consistently right. You’re basically ****** if you miss one parry. The unskippable cutscene of being dragged out the ring is too long and it’s aggravating having to put bandages on after every fight. Not fun.

I think I will change the difficulty down as I have never been one for fighting games. Does the difficulty level only impact the combat? I assume the puzzles etc remain the same regardless?

Looking forward to getting this game next week to play over the holidays :)

There are difficulty options for the game and the puzzles that can be altered separately if needed.
