I played this when it first came out. Loved the concept but honestly it was so buggy I gave up on it within 10 minutes it was a joke.
Gave it another stab a few days ago and it's definitely playable now, and challenging! But even after all this time it's still really buggy and only feels like a 1/3 of a game.
On occasion I hear gunshots nearby but have not found any NPCs.
I am dehydrated but it's raining?
Found a handgun which sometimes fires off 7 rounds in one click.
The swing radius of a golf club is the same as a rolling pin, and look the same visually.
Desperately needs a map function.
The list goes on. None of which are game breaking, but climbing through a window (when it give you the option) only a get stuck on some adjoining furniture unable to move, is.
It is good though. I'm reluctant to play further because it would be much more enjoyable when it's finished, and not be thinking, "why am I the only survivor" and, "why isn't there a single car on the road" etc. The town looks far too 'neat' for there to have been a zombie apocalypse or whatever.
In my last play through I'd been stockpiling planks of wood and nails at a random tavern I'd found in the middle of some grassland. I clubbed some zombies inside and made it my base. Venturing further into town for better loot, I broke into a hardware store and found a hammer, which opened up a string of building options (barbed-wire fence, door etc).
I only had a quick glimpse at the build options because a dozen zombies had been pounding at the windows for about 30 seconds now, and it was time to go. Suddenly, a window smashed, then another, and another. I had lingered too long. Fear set in. I looked up and zombies quickly filled the room.
I'd been complacent. Setting of the burglar alarm of a nearby building was going to be my undoing. It was supposed to be a decoy, but the alarm had long stopped, and the banging of that lone zombie who saw me enter the store had now attracted them all to my location.
I knew I was surrounded. I turned for my entry point knowing they'll be no clear exit, and I find myself wrestling with a pack of zombies. There was way too many to fight, and I needed to get out before becoming overwhelmed. My only exit was the door, I could reach that. But the zombies were banging it hard, and there would be many outside. All I could do was try to barge through.
I bolted for the door, opening up to crowd of zombies. I swung my golf club and pushed to the right where they appeared weakest and made two steps, barely breaking through. But there was no escape. To my utter despair, hundreds of zombies clogged the car park, lunging towards me. I could no longer run. My wounds were too severe. Death was coming. I was immediately overpowered and pushed back into the store by the zombie mob, and it goes dark, quickly
This was on survival mode, where there's a gang of zombies on every corner. You can also play sandbox mode and change zombie intensity and their stats, making it harder or easy, amongst other options.
Worth a £5 in its present state in my opinion.
