[Indie Game] Project Zomboid

Yeah I've been keeping up to date with it, it's much much better now with the inventory system and what not. I really don't like the new map though it's far too spread out for my liking, there's no town/city center area anymore :( Some nice detail in what there is, just hate the layout.

Actually about that, I checked the wiki but can't get my head around it... Is it just the new city, or is the new city within the map with other things?

Had this a while now, got fed up with faffing back and forth versions...

Great game though !
Awaiting the ever elusive multiplayer honestly, being able to join a friends world would suffice even

Whats the current version like ?
have they got fire / rain / npc all working in same version yet?

cheers

There are custom maps aren't there?

I played this when it first came out. Loved the concept but honestly it was so buggy I gave up on it within 10 minutes it was a joke.

Gave it another stab a few days ago and it's definitely playable now, and challenging! But even after all this time it's still really buggy and only feels like a 1/3 of a game.

On occasion I hear gunshots nearby but have not found any NPCs.
I am dehydrated but it's raining?
Found a handgun which sometimes fires off 7 rounds in one click.
The swing radius of a golf club is the same as a rolling pin, and look the same visually.
Desperately needs a map function.

The list goes on. None of which are game breaking, but climbing through a window (when it give you the option) only a get stuck on some adjoining furniture unable to move, is.

It is good though. I'm reluctant to play further because it would be much more enjoyable when it's finished, and not be thinking, "why am I the only survivor" and, "why isn't there a single car on the road" etc. The town looks far too 'neat' for there to have been a zombie apocalypse or whatever.

In my last play through I'd been stockpiling planks of wood and nails at a random tavern I'd found in the middle of some grassland. I clubbed some zombies inside and made it my base. Venturing further into town for better loot, I broke into a hardware store and found a hammer, which opened up a string of building options (barbed-wire fence, door etc).

I only had a quick glimpse at the build options because a dozen zombies had been pounding at the windows for about 30 seconds now, and it was time to go. Suddenly, a window smashed, then another, and another. I had lingered too long. Fear set in. I looked up and zombies quickly filled the room.

I'd been complacent. Setting of the burglar alarm of a nearby building was going to be my undoing. It was supposed to be a decoy, but the alarm had long stopped, and the banging of that lone zombie who saw me enter the store had now attracted them all to my location.

I knew I was surrounded. I turned for my entry point knowing they'll be no clear exit, and I find myself wrestling with a pack of zombies. There was way too many to fight, and I needed to get out before becoming overwhelmed. My only exit was the door, I could reach that. But the zombies were banging it hard, and there would be many outside. All I could do was try to barge through.

I bolted for the door, opening up to crowd of zombies. I swung my golf club and pushed to the right where they appeared weakest and made two steps, barely breaking through. But there was no escape. To my utter despair, hundreds of zombies clogged the car park, lunging towards me. I could no longer run. My wounds were too severe. Death was coming. I was immediately overpowered and pushed back into the store by the zombie mob, and it goes dark, quickly :)

This was on survival mode, where there's a gang of zombies on every corner. You can also play sandbox mode and change zombie intensity and their stats, making it harder or easy, amongst other options.

Worth a £5 in its present state in my opinion.

Certainly agree it's still clunky and buggy, but you can have fun when you avoid stuff like climbing through windows with furniture on the other side, and firearms shouldn't be used at all imo :p In response to:

That's a feature of the game. There are no NPCs yet because they took them out, but they have sounds like gunshots and helicopters to add to the atmosphere of the game atm

I am dehydrated but it's raining?
Not a bug, as the guy doesn't drink the rain (although that could be a nice feature in the future, like collection rainwater

Found a handgun which sometimes fires off 7 rounds in one click.
Bug!

Yup, I think most melee weapons have one or two others that have a similar swinging radius at the moment, until they have more time to make their own

Bought this game about 2 days back and I'm loving it so far, although it can be VERY unforgiving at times and keeping up to date with versions can be a pain. Have it on Desura but found a newer version than I had on their forums...waiting for that steam release.

Had a few good runs but then something always happens...or I get lost in the middle of nowhere. Need to learn the map more I guess.

But to anyone who is on the fence about buying this it's a great little game for a fiver, would highly recommend!

I bought this game soon as it became available for purchase, played it for around 5 minutes and was sooooo ticked off with how buggy/unstable it was!

It is ALPHA though, to be expected.

So I was looking about for a decent zombie game, having been ****ed off that state of decay is for xbox only, even although it just looks like a hack n slash ****fest. I came across project zomboid again.

The menus, massive improvement.
Game is VERY stable compared to initial release.
Map is fantastic, well thought out and can not wait to see it get expanded.
Gameplay in general is fun, jumpy and difficult.
Regular updates.
Splitscreen gameplay! Buggy but just added, great for playing with the missus :p

FIVE. FRICKING. POUNDS.

BUY BUY BUY!

This is an indie team with a vision, to create something difficult with a challenge. How many zombie games have the superhuman player? Not this one, bite = death.

Yeah it has been massively improved... Still waiting for the steam release due to them releasing different updates in different places at the mo

I downloaded a cough copy as I really didn't enjoy this the first time I played but it's come such a long way that I have since purchased it this morning. My only nitpick is click response time is not so good, like I expect to climb into that window and my character does nothing. However this may be down to the mac i'm currently using at the family home.

My far more powerful pc is at home ;D
