As someone who was on the fence last weekend, I'd say yes.

It's both a bit of a boring man's game and an action game. For example I spent 5 hours building up my char and avoiding everyone and still had fun doing so, only to be killed by a team of 3. I wasn't mad though, it's all part of what this game is.

The worry is what it's going to be like going forward, will support be good in the long run and will they address the cheaters? That said, I haven't run into any cheaters in the week I've played it so far.

All I can say is that there are thousands of people playing at the moment and the server list never has an empty one. Lots of people are enjoying it. Sure it's not perfect but we are in alpha at the moment as well.

Considering the alternative, Day Z, isn't standalone yet and I didn't want to get a copy of Arma 2 then mod it, this was pretty much the only option. I'm really happy with it.
 
Aw was beating a zombies head on with my torch and some dude came round and shot me. Lost 3 guns ;(. Only had a few bullets for each gun but still... Ah well was aboutto starve to death anyway.
 
So, is this game actually 'fun'?

All the youtube vids make it look pretty boring, you run around for ages, occasionally coming across a lone zombie, but you have no weapons so you just keep running and he just follows you for hours.

Is this the type of game where you find an assault rifle but after running around for 3 hours you find 2 bullets to use. But then you get shot by someone else and they steal all your stuff?

Also, sounds silly but is there any sense of elevation in this game, what I mean is, can you go upstairs in buildings and climb on rooftops etc? Or is it all ground level.

We wouldn't be playing it if it was not "fun" But I guess we don't all find the same stuff fun. This is a question only you can answer, like every other game out there right now you just have to try it. You can go upstairs etc and on some roofs. Ammo is dead easy to find and so are m4's etc. It does have some really rare weapon spawns but it is not hard to find normal weapons. Also don't forget it is still in Alpha it has a ton of extra content being added over the weeks. Also unlike other games you would buy at say £25 and find them boring, well this one is dirt cheap so not much to lose really. No lone Zombies they are lots in the towns etc, I believe roaming ones will be added to forests at a later date. ALso unlike DayZ the zombies on this can be pretty badass at times. They don't follow forever you can lose them.

Yes m8, you only lose your stuff when some bandit kills you and robs you sir. Safe zone is only really to axxs your global inventory. You can store stuff there if you have to much stuff then you can get it back when you die.
 
Fully intended to stay off this today, gf has offered me 3 hours of playtime this afternoon in return for doing the maintenance on her car.

Dammit, just when I think i'm out, it pulls me back in :D
 
and your other question do zombies chase you for hours the answer is no if you sprint and get away from them about 20 meters they stop or if you break line of sight after about 10-15 meters they stop chasing too..

the game is just soooo good im a bit devastated we never saw those guys last night they totally owned us all but like Vor mentioned we did come at the town from the low ground at night me and noobie only managed to get half way up the hill for a quick look into town before my head went missing lol
