*** Infestation: Survivor Stories ***

What's the cheapest price DayZ has been so far? Sure as hell hasn't been anywhere near £2.74. :p

Well Day Z is free.

And War Z/Infestation has about the worst reputation I've ever seen in gaming, from the developers 'using' another game's engine, hacking, pay to win, and all the rest of it's very chequered history. More than enough to ensure the developers will never get a penny from me. I would advise anyone & everyone else to do the same.

Personally i think its okay. Yes the developers and owner of the game is a conplete tosh by saying what he said. But the game itself isn't so bad. I like the idea of being super careful with what you do and makes every decision count as it could be your last.

The game has its bugs and glitches like any other and yes the idea of having to buy ammo with real money sucks. I got the £7ish bundle which came with some gold to spend on gear and ammo and the alike. Though you have to find a gun first before you can even use ammo! I got my first gun by accidently manslaughtering some guy who was with me at the time. Safe to say i took his stuff and made it my own. Since then i have come across cross bows and snipers by raiding villages and houses for loot. Again having to be super careful not to be overwhelmed. I use night vision as a torch will just give you away to peope who want to kill you for your gear, Afterall it is a survival horror.

So far im impressed with the game and im looking forward to patches and new material.

What did they say?
Why so much hatred towards the developers of this game?
I've obviously missed what happened for them to have so many people ****ed with them.

Day Z is a mod. Arma 2 Combined ops was around £6 in the steam sale.
Day Z & Day Z Commander (mod management with all the various adaptations available) are both free.

So let's for the sake of argument say I didn't own Arma 2 CO, and had just gotten a PC and had just heard of the DayZ phenomenon and want to get in on it. How do I go about playing the mod?

I like Arma & DayZ but the entire 'but DayZ is free' crap needs to end, before DayZ came out, Arma 2 had sold shy of 100,000 copies, 2 months after it came out it was going on nearly a million. WarZ (sorry, I mean I:SS :p) has always been cheaper than DayZ and it's better, it's better than the standalone looks too. Arma should be bought for the proper military simulation with ACE+ACRE etc which sadly about 2% of people who own it actually play.

How can it be better when it's 'pay to win'? A survival game shouldn't let you circumvent it's rules with real life cash. Aside from any other issues I have with it & it's developers, that is a deal breaker right there.

/edit: A survival pvp game that is.

Because why do you play DayZ? It's the survival aspect right? It certainly can't be for the zombies because the pathfinding, animations and A.I on them is atrocious. You are much better off playing Wasteland than DayZ because that does what DayZ does but better and without the cringeworthy PvE. WarZ is the only thing out at the mo that actually gives you a sandbox zombie survival experience, it's much cheaper than DayZ and always has been. It isn't particularly pay 2 win either, as you can find anything from looting and I haven't met anyone who's spent money on the cashshop yet. Granted the devs + business model is bad but when it's the only thing out there and will be for probably more than a year yet, there isn't much choice if you want the DayZ experience, ironically.

They threatened people

They banned people from their own forums and the Steam ones who had any issues, including technical ones.

They had a system called 'fairfight' where somebody could simply type 'fairfight e36Adz' in chat and you'd get banned if you had killed them. Despite acknowleging this as an issue, they didn't remove it for months and ignored everyone who got banned and basically gave them the middle finger.

Even today they are unfairly banning people and ignoring them afterwards.

They have written articles and messages to people threatening them if they tried to get a refund after the poor, poor state of the game for the first 6 or 7 months.

There is just too much to list, they are complete amateurs and keyboard warriors, and complete scum for having such an amazing opportunity and squandering it, they were the first game to do what they do, and ruined it by destroying their own + their games reputation.

Actually it does make sense. When the zombie Apocalypse comes do you want to be Kenny from south park who is basically already starving and has nothing, or a rich person like Token who probably already has loads of stuff you could use for survival?

The mod is free. Your point is null and void. Also how can you pass judgement over a game that has yet to be released?

The dev i believe also called someone or a group of people *******. Theres a news article somewhere online about it.

its technically free but to access it u have to pay so its not really free is it.....

its like saying u can come in this shop to get a free 2 pint of milk but its £2 entry fee
essentially the milk is free but its not free is it...

so do i buy or not? helllppppppppppppp

Yeah its worth £2, would be worth full price if not for the devs. You'll get quite a few hours out of it solo and tons out of it with a buddy or a group.
