*** Infestation: Survivor Stories ***

It's a free mod for a paid-for game. Relatively simple concept to grasp, I'd have thought.

But when the majority consider the game only worth it for said mod, and the developers give the creator a job and funding to start development of a standalone version of said mod, it's not so black and white.

its technically free but to access it u have to pay so its not really free is it.....

its like saying u can come in this shop to get a free 2 pint of milk but its £2 entry fee
essentially the milk is free but its not free is it...

Poor analogy, because you also get Arma II/OA which is a whole game in its own right.

Rocket was already working at Bohemia before he made DayZ. And he only made the mod for himself and a few friends originally, he nor Bohemia thought it would take off the way it did.

At the end of the day its only £2ish for the game. At least try it for yourself instead of crucifying cos of whats happener and what others have said. Then you can say i've tried it and hated it instead of just hating.

True, but I don't know what goes through peoples heads when they setup to get DayZ. Do they not realize that money just disappeared from their accounts and they go along their day blindly believing what they are now playing was free? :D

I'm not hating on Rocket, BiS, DayZ, ARMA or anything, just saying that it isn't free lol. Especially when a member of BiS made it, that's like Gear of War coming out without Horde mode and then one of the developers creates Horde mode and all of a sudden its some free thing anyone can play. :p

What's the cheapest price DayZ has been so far? Sure as hell hasn't been anywhere near £2.74. :p

arma ii CO was £6.something on steam the other day. Cheapest ive ever seen it

Thinking about it, if CO was £6, then OA must have been around £3-4. If steam put it in a last chance sale then if people are really scraping the barrel you could do A2 free and A2 OA for peanuts

On a side note I'm miffed that the threads got merged and I'm now posting in the main warz/ISS thread. Didn't want anything to do with this POS :p

I tried it, think it's ****ing horrible.

General crashes. Punkbuster crashes. Hit markers for zombies are broke. Getting one hit by zombies after walking for 10-15 minutes to find a friend. Getting sniped every time I try to enter a safe zone.

You can join a server with less people.

I have to kind of agree though, the game is simply boring. Run about whack a few zombies over the head and push e to pick up a can of soda.

Also the zombies re-spawn, so you couldn't for example clear a farm and just run about looking for loot because as soon as you turn around there's a whole load more zombies.

Your character is literally useless when he dies as he comes back with nothing, not even a torch to hit the zombies with to pick up other stuff which means you just have to create a new character.

The cycle between night and day is rubbish. You can't see anything at night so unless you don't care if you die then it's impossible to loot a farm because the likelihood of getting killed by a zombie you didn't see is very high. Couple that with the zombies re-spawning and it makes it impossible so you have to sit it out for the 25 minutes or so when you can't see anything.

Not sure why anyone would pay money for this. All you have to do is google it to realise it is a steaming pile of trash.

the actual game itself is not that bad. hacking is not as prevalent as it used to be and it does appear as though ammo etc is spawing a bit more frequently. played with a group of friends on a decent server it can actually be very good straightforward fun

Not really as I get acess to a building I have no intrest in with the deal much like arma2 I get acess to a game I don't want because I bought it to play dayz.

Arma 2 has only sold so many copies because of dayz people buy arma to access dayz if u owned arma and then found out about dayz then yes it's free but if u go out of your way just for dayz then your paying to access dayz.

We are both technically right it's just how u look at it.

Player-killing is so rampant and ridiculous that avoiding ganks is pretty much the core focus of the game. Here's a true story from my playtime: Another player, trailed by a gaggle of zombies, stopped running and died just so he could beat me to death with a baseball bat.

Sounds like me on BF3 with C4 and chopper/tank camping ¬_¬

:D

Hey do the nice dayz fan boys want to clear off back to there thread? instead of stating the obvious time and time again, Do one, know one cares what you have to say. If not ill come over to your beloved thread and get it deleted once again.

Yeah, god forbid anyone thinking of buying the game would want an unbiased opinion :)

I would advise against trolling the DayZ thread.

Back on topic please.
