Intel Core Ultra 9 285k 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

I tried disabling memory integrity in windows security and rebooted. VBS was still enabled according to system information afterwards. Guess I would need to disable windows hello like the guy from reddit did.

Is that build, 2153, on general release or something a reviewers has to go out of their way to find?

You can just enable the insider option in windows update to get it.

Tbh I think most users will have it enabled by default. Right now these are the real results until and if Intel/MS fix the issues. Right now trusting Linux will have less issues although lunar lake early results and posterior bug fixes do not bode well, although Asus seems to be the main suspect for most of the issues Phoronix experienced.
 
To get the most out of arl, apart from the usual, Pcore, Ecore and ring, you need to tune the following:

NGU. Next Generation Uncore. Which is the SoC
D2D. Die to die. Which is the fabric across chiplets
Mem timings. XMP timings are horribly loose and will kill performance quickly

It’s not a plug n play performance platform.

D2D. Die to die. Which is the fabric across chiplets
Mem timings. XMP timings are horribly loose and will kill performance quickly

Don't rush its pretty much a paper launch, there will be some tray CPU's floating around early on, as we don't expect huge demand with how cheap 12th and 14th gen is now OcUK will most likely wait for the Retail stock to arrive.

will OcUK update people who pre-ordered today or tomorrow on whats going on? (which ever. is launch date)

Not plug and play makes it basically DOA, especially if we're talking about a lot of tweaking just to get the performance on par with AMD which is completely plug and play. If ARL requires lots of work, it needs to deliver exceptional class leading gaming performance to justify itself

And yes I get it, there are still people who will buy ARL if it's got a bunch of new tweaks to play with even if the performance isn't great, after all people bought Bulldozer

It also seems W11 26100.2152 or newer corrects some of the latency issues.

I honestly think you would have to be mad to jump on this platform. No longevity, questionable performance benefits. Obviously I hope it’s good for anyone that is buying in to it, I just think it is shaping up to be a pretty disappointing CPU family/socket that will be quickly moved on from.

not like the motherboards are cheap and are you even getting any better performance from the chips ? unless you have £ to burn and like tinkering with new stuff

Has it been confirmed that it's only going to be a single socket run?

It's been confirmed it's only a single architecture. Meteor Lake was supposed to launch on LGA-1851 but was cancelled, so in effect Arrow Lake should have been the final CPU on this platform. Now it's the last.

Though if Nova Lake (the next gen) is going to only release in 2026, I can see Intel refreshing Arrow Lake with a +200Mhz bump and calling that Ultra9 385k or something silly. Not going to see any meaningful improvement on LGA-1851.
