***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

1.347 is very high for stock speed. Make sure you have the latest bios version for your board. Should help to lower voltage.

That was when turbo boosted to 4.4Ghz.

Anyway, currently got it running 4.5Ghz at 1.300v and while it seems stable, trying to run intel burn test hits 100C on my CPU pretty quickly, so going to try scaling back the voltage a little more. Was hoping to hit around 4.6-4.7Ghz, it's just the question of how happy I am with hitting that 100C in a high intensity benchmark when realistically nothing's going to push it that high in the real world.

good enough for me :) though my score seems low for the cpu speed im at.

Virus, what's your ring/uncore/catch frequency ? Try moving this up towards 4.8ghz as we'll. omly other thing to do is fine tune ram I guess. Every little helps with cinebench.

What cooler do you have, Virus? Beginning to think mine may not be mounted properly. It's getting good low temps at idle, but leaps right up under load.

New version of Prime95 28.5 With AVX instructions:

Man its a T test to beat all T tests the new AVX tests really suck the power from haswell. but as you can see temps are still great for me @4.8 :)

I am using a EK S Waterblock with chip delided
liquid metal pro on the die
IC Diamond metal on the IHS..

It works for me :)

Good temps Virus, will have to start a spot of clocking on this new one soon. Did get to 4.8 on my first one, but not stable. Could run the likes of real bench etc but nothing too heavy.

Yeah some good temps at that speed. I think you could get 4.9ghz with that cooling setup. :D

stable @4.9 is easy but i dont have a issue running @4.8 and your not going to see much of a difference going from 4.8 to 4.9, now going from 4.4 default to 4.8 thats a big difference..
i could probably get 5.0 stable @1.38v cooling probably would not be a issue AVX Prime95 test though would be a issue and probably crash.
though well lets just say i have options :D

WOW you have some stonking RAM there Sir, I've some 2666 11-13-13-35 and it will just do 2716 and that's with those timings change any of them and she falls over but you paid good money and got some good stuff there mate.

indeed, those are some sick ram timings

Just smashed 4 seconds of that previous time by using tighter timings.

That will be down to uncore catch and memory timing/bandwidth.
see if you can get the uncore to match cpu 48X. I can only get my uncore to 47X and cpu 49X at the same time. can get it to match but volts are way to high for me.

Couple of questions please:

1/ Does the liquid metal pro last forever if you leave it in situ?

2/ What temp reduction did you get?

3/ How much extra overclock has this enabled you to get?

Thank you.

1: Yes, never needs changed, and no bedding in either.
2: 15-20c+ Load temp reduction when combined with delid.
3: More voltage 1.35+ without fear of hitting 80-85c
