***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

4.7 at about 45-55c (air)
4.8 start to get thermal runaway but its stable
4.9-5.0 - stable but not prime95 stable.

Happy with 4.7

Please can you tell me what steppings your CPU's are, the full steppings please like for instance L412B312
It helps me see if there is any correlation between other CPU's I've seen around the net.
Could you also give your max stable clocks temp and voltages and max clocks unstable temp and voltages if you have them please.

4.7GHz 1.3V P95 AVX blend stable 6 hrs+, large FFTs stable 12 hrs+
4.8GHz 1.275 to 1.3V IBT AVX, maximum RAM 32GB 2666 MHz, stable 10 passes in ~4 hours
5.0GHz can run benchmarks at 1.35V such as Super Pi but I wouldn't use this for 24/7 use. Can't get stable with IBT or P95 due to 100c temperatures. If I could get temperatures lower my chip would do 5GHz stable for 24/7 use.

Sticking to 4.7 to 4.8GHz for 24/7 use. Had to increase System Agent and Digital & Analogue i/o voltages by +200mV to get all 32GB RAM stable at 2666 MHz. Also CPU cache voltage and CPU VRIN had to be increased to 1.2 V and 1.9V respectively.

EDIT: Currently testing IBT AVX @ 4.9GHz 1.29V.

Could get bench stable at 4.8 with 1.35v, but bf4 wouldn't have it.

So will likely be sticking to 4.7.

Pity though. 4.8 was a no go even in benches with previous ram.

At least with new ram I no longer get data corruption, etc, when it crashes on unstable oc.

Got my L331C518 at 4.7 Core with 1.3v and a 4.6 ring with 1.25v. It will do 4.6 at 1.230 and is not stable at 4.8 with 1.325, the temps started getting over 80c then so I backed off.

Just installed this with the Alpenföhn Brocken ECO CPU Cooler - 120 mm and when doing hunts in FFXIV (admittedly pretty flashy) the CPU spikes to 90-100 degrees ... pretty sure that's not how it's supposed to go! Runs idle at around 40 and when not in hunts it is around 80, when FFXIV is in the background while I'm checking CPUID Hardware Monitor it drops from 80 to 60 pretty quick. So... likely air bubbles? I'm not even overclocking at the moment... GPU is fine, 60 or so. Not confident I got that CPU cooler placement done very well, so wouldn't be surprised if it's air bubbles, but yeah. :(

I have the H80I Mine idles @ 40c as well. I thought It was it was a little hot:eek:

H100i. 4790k @ stock (1.184v at 4.4 boost and 1.2 under prime).

29-35 idle.
50-60 in games
70 while priming.

Loving the upgrade from my old i7 950.

Will try overclock it soon, briefly did a quick and dirty 4.6 and it had no issues. Think it's a good'n of a chip but time will tell, truth be told I'm still getting use to all the features and options on my vii hero's bios.

Hi there just a couple of bits, is your last numbers 44? of the stepping as mine is the same, also what motherboard do you have?
