Intel Q3 price drops.

It's a little faster, full crosfire support, if you do ever go 2 ati cards.
Lovely thanks. :) Had a look on OcUK and the Asus x38s they have don't have built-in eSata according to the bumpf on the mobo page. Will check out Asus' site to confirm that but perhaps I will need that eSata kit after all.

If running one card the P45 offers enhanced clocking for 45nm cpu's.

If you really want dual cards then the x38 or x48 but if only running one card the P45 is the danglies.

Any idea on the ETA of the 4870x2s then? I'll need to get a job and get some cash together so I doubt I'll be buying before September perhaps even October. :)

Not confirmed, but the general opinion is official launch late this month, available in shops during August.

Have you been reading about the Q9x50 range in general or specifcally the Q9550... I haven't been abe to find much about the Q9550

The info from Googling is peeps are complaining about lack of reviews.

I sat up 2 nights ago and read all I could find about all 3 affordable 45nm Quads.

The same 3 sold here, and the OC was bad, there is said to be a new stepping and the slowest one of the group is approaching End Of Line in a matter of weeks.

I would say its better to read real peeps input from XS than review sites but its not good results TBH, the Extremes get 4-4.5GHZ (can read here in shops comment section).

Still no real decent info on oc'ing the Q9550, though I did find this...

I'm going to be getting this chip with an Asus Striker II and water cooling the stock Fusion Block on the MB with a D-Tek Fuzion V.2 on the CPU, I'm hoping 4.0Ghz should be within reach :/

Yes I see it too, 4GHZ is nice but would love to see higher FSB, there is said to be a wall.

Is the FSB wall due to the processor or the mobo? Admittedly, the dual cores are hitting much higher FSB than the quads, however, it's my understanding that the FSB limit is similar for the 45nm quads, therefore the FSB should be similar for the Q9550 and the Q9450, thus the multi makes the difference. From reading around, I think that it's not unreasonable to hope for 450+ FSB on the new Asus P45 boards... though you can never be certain how an oc will turn out!
