What the part with you posting crap? Yesterday it was the 1700 had the same performance as the the 6950x, today you are saying then game engines break at high refresh rates.

So is it bad to have Haswell levels of single thread performance? I've seen many a thread where people have said keep your cpu even older ones like the 2500-2600k.
So single thread it's on par with those cpu's that others have been told is fine for a while, and it offers much better multi plus likely has 5 years of lifespan, if you don't want to upgrade to Zen 2.

Its actually about the same IPC as KabyLake, KabyLake has a clock speed advantage, Ryzen has a core advantage and a huge cost advantage, and better power consumption if you're interested in such things, makes them cheaper to cool, i guess.
Yes, The Ryzen 5 is able to keep the 7700K at arms length, its not more than 10% faster in most things, the 7700K is much faster in a few, but the Ryzen 5 is also able to keep better minimums is a few other things, smooth gameplay.
Its pretty clear when you look at these performance differences you're getting for the 7700K its less than its clock speed advantage, its not that Ryzen has better IPC, its maybe 1 or 2% less if anything, what Ryzen does have is more compute threads, more than the 7700K's 8.
In a 6 core Intel thread that is not an Insult to Intel, not anymore, something else you need to come to grips with, its just fact and a welcome one given we will now get 6 core CPU's from Intel too.
Nothing wrong with it, it's just that Ryzen is currently limited to 3.9~4.0Ghz. Ivy and Sandy might have lower IPC, but both of those can reach 4.5Ghz at least, reason why I don't think Ryzen is that amazing of am upgrade even if you have an unlocked Sandy. If you can use the threads then it becomes a lot more worth.

I don't know why now they are banging on about the small IPC difference between Zen and Kabylake, thats really rich given they have been perfectly happy with incremental 3% upgrades since Sandy Bridge on the same 4 core mainstream.
AMD managed a 52% increase from one architecture to the next and put 16 Threads into the mainstream at an affordable price, and then 32 threads at £700 less than the cost of what was Intel's 20 thread flagship.
There has-to be a lot of hate for AMD to be that twisted.
