Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

Will wait for reviews but if the average user can get 4.8ish GHZ out of a 8700k i'll probably get one as i spend a lot of time in single threaded MMO's.. Have a x58 xeon atm so not dropping core count as do some video stuff aswell.

I wonder if OcUK will add another £50 on top for the Asus Z370 Hero like they have done for the AM4 version compared to every competitor! I guess the OcUK version must be gold plated or something.

Just drop them a note on the CS forum and you'll be surprised how often they match on a lot of product lines...

If the rumours prove to be true, what do we think the chances are of the 8 core Z390 processors being compatible with the Z370 mobos?
It would be nice, but the rep from Eurocom, who kicked off the 2018 8-core rumours, said they are skipping Z370 and going straight to Z390 for the 8-core support. I don't think they would do that if Z370 could be made to work.

Nope. Simply consider that an overclocked 7600 at 100% load, burns more power, than an overclocked 1800X at the same load. And the latter is much faster.

You probably should chill with the shilling, it's getting ridiculous at this point:

Who needs a 8 core for gaming? I sure don't. I nice 6 core 12 thread will do me just fine until 2020:)

More crap being spread about in this thread.
7600 beats the 1800x in gaming, whilst using less power.

Ryzen gamers need 8 cores for gaming. They justify their purchase by repeatedly quoting the very few games having a slight edge over 4C8T in some rare moments and declare the need of streaming.

Actually, Ryzen is a decent choice, though just like Intel's HEDT, not as suitable as Intel's mainstream for gaming.

Yep and the Pentium g will give you 85% the performance of the 8700K for £50...

Your point? I was showing that what he had said is wrong.
There's so much fud being spread around in this thread.
Also, those pentiums aren't £50 anymore, they've rocketed.

Or they look at the platforms and pick the best one.

And you're the one spreading it.

It's going to be considerably faster than the 1600X for gaming, so yeah, it's going to be a much better choice for that purpose.

I don't understand why the same handful of people keep bringing up Ryzen in this thread over and over again, same discussions over and over again. I get that you have a preference for platform or multinational corporation, but it's getting annoying.

If you want to trumpet your preferences, go to the Ryzen thread.
