Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

The i5-8600K is going to be a big seller methinks. For gaming, I can't see the i7-8700K being appealing for the extra price (similar to how many bought the i5-2500K back in the day rather than the i7-2600K). The i7 will have a bit more staying power but it's hard to see the i5 getting obsolete any time soon unless multi-core gaming really takes off as AMD (and a lot of us) hope.

Agree, but I don’t see any oneboard that stands out. The gigabyte boards look best, but not liking the Aorus branding. Want Asus, but don’t see any Asus boards that stand out either? Mmmm still undecided myself ?

Asrock gaming k6 is what has all I need but it's red :/ why can't the strix boards have a debug lcd, they cost next to nothing to add!

Seems like it based on the Romanian reviews, but wait for more to come out before jumping on it.

It also overclocks to 5Ghz easily, which is a pretty nice bump in single core limited games.
LOL!! sweeping statement from a review where the CPU seems to be provided by an MB manufacturer who wants the board to be shown as clocking high and they have hundreds to bin. Guys on here.... The 8600K can clock a little better than 8700K in our testing when not delidded.

YOU not being able to tell if a game engine can keep up is a far cry from your statement earlier lol. Your comments are a joke. I'm pretty sure you're just trolling.

Anyhow, I'm still undecided on a board, the clear CMOS button on the io and a debug LCD are a must though.

You forgot the topic again didn't you. Most games fall apart at over 60 FPS.

From my testing most boards are adjusting Vcore upwards too. I believe they are doing this to get better stock scores on reviews but its not true stock testing for efficiency.

That's a bit naughty.

Nah, most people have no independent clue about what they are buying, they just do what mainstream reviewers tell them to do, 90% of those are still saying any Intel CPU is better than any Ryzen CPU, even with Intel's current pricing, in Steam Hardware survey AMD are still losing ground to Intel.

Intel are still selling vast amounts of 4 core CPU's for £250 and £350, many times more than anything AMD are selling.

So the idea that Intel will drop its per core price by 40% is deluded, for what?

I'd think the "Intel are still selling bucketloads more CPU's than AMD" thoughts are... pretty delusional tbh. Pick your news site.

I would be very careful assuming retail chips in general hit that performance. In many reviews binned CPU's are used at high voltages and temps which are not viable in the long term.

Eventually proper test results will appear.

Looking at the benchmarks for games from the lab501 review , if your main thing is gaming it doesn't look like a big upgrade for current 7600k/7700k users.

I'm not sure if AMD could supply more than 50% of the market. I'd be very surprised if they could.

No, it's looking like more, more of the same for people isnt it. But lets wait for proper reviews and UK prices. Maybe motherboards will alow for BCLK overclocking of non K chips and the 8400 could be a bit special for the price.

You say more of the same but that's not quite they have added more cores to the fastest (per core) processors.

That was the only complaint from the moar core brigade about the 7700k so now that it has moar cores it's hardly 'moar' of the same.

So more, more of the same. The complaint with Kaby was it was Skylake again. I would have liked Intel to move to 6 core desktops chip with DDR4. I think that's probably the point they dropped the ball.
