I really hope e-tailers here in the UK don't over price and take advantage of coffeelake release. If they do I won't upgrade at all. I'll just stay with what I have. Save my money.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

What are airports like with buying computer parts from abroad?
I was thinking of picking up the 8600k when on holiday outside of eu not sure if they would tax me on the way back in.
Ryzen 1700 is your friend.

I not going to lie and say I have thought about it. If I did go 1700x I would not buy from any e-tailer that takes the mickey with prices.
We'll see come Thursday?
You mean the mark up by the retailer or the price set by Intel. Does the mark up change for AMD vs Intel?

You will have to decide if you walk through the goods to declare door at the airport of not. If they stop you it is a fine and confiscation of items. If they don't stop you then you have successfully evaded tax and committed a crime.
It sounds strong, but that is how it is treated.
Icelake will be Skylake again. The next chance of a big upgrade is 2020, although Intel have put a chip off for a year so we might have to wait until 2021.
No problem at all, a PC is just a big Laptop really, you do need to take it out the bag though which can result in a few strange looks, I practise taking it out, otherwise you can look like a right tw@t, I have a bag that is max size for Easyjet 56x45x25. CPU won't be an issue, technically you should declare it, just carry the plastic holder, if they ask, you were testing it a friends...though won't ask though.

You can have up to £390 worth of 'souveniers' so I don't think an 8600K will be an issue.
I'm not going to wait until 2021. I will upgrade, but depends on price whether I do it now or wait until next year.
Thursday holds all the answers.

Have you looked at X99? You can get some really good deals.
They often have "introductory offers" that mean they're priced the same as everywhere else but if you miss the window, yes, chances are they'll be more expensive. *reminisces to 2009 when they saved me ~£50 on my build compared to the biggest competition at the time*I bet OCUK will be the most expensive. They always are. Will check everywhere before buying. If not I can wait.
Not looking at x99. Would like to get the newest tech if I can
