Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

How come the egg has them for sale? It's not the 5th yet?

Probably just preorder, I went on and got directed to the AUS version. The conversion on there when selecting the Union Flag came up as 286.99 GBP (for the 8700k) so no doubt that's closer to 400 GBP in the UK. (I can't type the pound sign on this American keyboard)

I'm slightly put off going for the 8700k now if the z370 boards are just a stop gap for z390 boards. The 7800x or 1700x are looking more and more appealing to me at the moment, possible even jump on the 7900x.

I can see something like an Asus Prime Z370 not being too far from that price range. We just have to hope there's no artificially increased prices on release. Going by other hardware etc I'm not feeling too positive.

I wish I knew when they were going on sale, guess I'll be refreshing retailers at midnight tonight, and first thing in the morning too (god I'm pathetic lol)

I'm hoping to get the itx strix and an 8600k.....I can't see too much demand for that combo. I reckon most people are going to be aiming for the 8700k and atx boards.

I don't even think I'd buy from that site regardless of stock. They've not got great reviews, and the site looks terrible.

I'm pessimistic but I like to think about problems. Every retailer is great when they're taking you're money but I want to have peace of mind knowing that an issue will get resolved quickly.

Trying to recall if strix ITX was on launch , think it was afterwards but would def spam that 8600k! You'll be surprised £100-150 difference in i5 to i7 can mean the jump from 1070 to 1080 to 80 to Ti ;)

this the part we fined out even more 1151 socket pins become unlocked haha

Yeah totally agree. Once it inevitably sells out I can see the price shooting over 300 quid, with the i7 over £400 lol.

I think the i7 will be about £100 more. The more I think about it the more I think the i5 is going to be the way to go for a purely gaming rig. Use the price difference on a stronger graphics card.

Just like what happened with the Skylake 6700k release. Not much stock and cpu's shot up a £100 more. Intel doing it again:mad:

I'm that desperate to build a new rig that if the itx isn't available I'll grab whichever board is available(within reason of course).

I would defintely prefer a smaller form factor though as I prefer smaller cases, and I'll never sli or anything. Infact my rigs are pretty barebones, just a gpu and m.2 ssd on the motherboard lol

Totally agree about the gpu.

It's annoying but it's generally the retailers that try and take advantage. To be honest if the prices become ridiculous I just won't buy it.

The most annoying thing in all this is we have no clue when they're going to be available. It's just a case of checking sites (and forums) constantly.

true, they do cause the stir by not making enough and in this case rushing it, but they sell to distributor at a set price and then distributor sells it to reseller at intel marked price- then retailers can adjust price according to stock and demand :(

seeing now 3x m.2 slots on main stream boards with High end systems being able to run quad m.2 on a PCIe 16 slot- wondering if case designs will change in next 3 odd years to ditch HDD and SSD 2.5" all together :D nice and small!

If it wasn't for the mesh arch of 7800X I would certainly be more tempted by the X299 platform than Z370...

I don't think there is going to be a huge difference in price between 7800X+Mobo and 8700K+Mobo.

Yep I5 8600k for me, can;t justify the extra for the I7 although I stream, the 8600k has the 6 cores so I can dump 2 on the stream and use the other 4 or the game. at more than likely 100 quid less it's going to be a no-brainer.

That's what I'm hoping. I mean we're already seeing more cases with no optical bay slots etc on the front. The first thing I do on most cases is remove any hdd drives to free up space etc.

I won't even use a "traditional" ssd drive anymore. It means less cables to mess about with, one less psu cable and no sata cable.

I'm hoping we're in the minority so it leaves plenty of stock. As I said earlier it seems as though people around the web are focusing more on the 8700k and even a look at retailers that have the cpu available shows the 8700k out of stock, and 8600k available.

The flipside is at launches people get desperate so they might just go for the 8600k if they can't get the 8700k...

I've actually even thought of stretching the budget and going for a 7820x and "cheap" motherboard. The Tuf mk2 seems reasonably priced. But I just keep thinking that the platform will be wasted on me, and the difference in price can mean the difference of 1080 or 1080ti.

then dump them on the bay for increased prices in between stock arrivals :(

Yeah it does actually. On first look I think the heat shield over the i/o looks better. On the Z370 it's smaller and looks worse in my opinion. edit: infact all the heat shields are bigger on the amd platform?!

Yeah maybe even a 7820x and board will be in the same region, coupled with a 1080ti or 2 x 1080's (or SLI 1080Ti :D) and can't see a need to build a new platform for a few years. Only reason I sold my 5930k and RVE was due to deployment, managed to get a decent price for it all knowing I can't use it for 6 months.

Margin on systems is higher than individual components so I will look into doing this for you. If your ordering on launch should be fine.
Excuse the knobness I am no PC expert just looking a high end system with the new chip so I don't quite understand.

Do you mean order a new system with the delidded 5ghz and 5.1 ghz bins CPU or order the CPU then send it back to put into a new system?

You guys are going to use all the 8700k for system builds and hardly any for sale on there own. OCUK have done this in the past. It's all about greed.

Be positive, otherwise there are other retailers to consider. :)

To be fair most retailers do this, watch when stock is low, any that come back in stock will be artificially raised in price.

Thats egg now sold out of 8700k. Stocks looking slimmmmmm

They still have the 8600k though. I'm hoping that sort of demand carries over to the UK i.e no one cares about it lol

It's hard to positive since it's happened to me a few times.

They aren't for sale yet are they? Would there be shortages on launch?

You can bet there will be.

All these retailers see is Money£££

Vote with your wallet. I've had a bad experience with another retailer (ryhmes with Stan lol) and I just won't use them again. Infact I'd rather burn my money than buy anything from them again.

My main concern with any retailer is how they are when there's a problem. I want to know that I'm not going to be fobbed off to the manufacturer, and any problems are resolved quickly. There's only really one retailer that provide that level of assurance for me, but I don't think they'll have stock ready to go tomorrow, but could be wrong.
