What are you intending to use either system for - gaming, streaming, productivity or a mix?what happened to your 8600k? did you cancel it? may i ask, why are you ordering an 8400 and a 1600? are you gonna be comparing them?
EDIT: so whats the sensible option here? get coffee lake or get ryzen instead? i havent watched the reviews yet. someone point me to the right direction, my mind is all over the place. i cant decide!
The i7-8700K is clearly the best overall chip under $500 due to its consistency and having an IGP.
Ryzen is too inconsistent, see DAW usage for example, and lacks an IGP.
The i5-8400 is also great value which is not something you hear very often with Intel, but needs a more basic chipset to keep the platform price down.
Great to see competition.
Not sure if I agree with the higher platform cost. The 8400 CPU itself costs the same as the 1600x, but the motherboard is slightly more expensive, maybe £10. However, Ryzen really needs 3200mhz RAM to 'shine' whereas the 8400 doesn't need such fast RAM to get proper performance. I think it balances out overall largely based on the savings from RAM.I agree on the 8400 but the higher chipset price will push it 50-100 over Ryzen which doesn't make it worth it to people wanting bang for buck which is probably 90% of the market lol
I'm sure we will see price movements. I want to pull the trigger on one or the other but I smell a price war soon
a mix of all of them tbh. What are you intending to use either system for - gaming, streaming, productivity or a mix?
Nice £50+ profit margin on that doing absolutely nothing. Maybe even £100 for some absolute madmanLOL, what a disaster launch I have got full build waiting for assemble, as I donated my I7 4770k to the nephew. R5 1600, b350 strix & high quality samsung b-dies Impulse buy, I managed to sneak one of the I5 8600K form here, while everybody was hunting I7 8700K I do not mind paying more over ryzen for better min & better vr preformance, but there are limits. I tried to pick up a motherboard to go along with my new I5 8600K. Seriously, similar strix for like £80 more. F... o... Intel goes to Ebay.
Got a 8700k and maximus hero coming today. Hopefully have it running Saturday. What a **** launch though, definitely rushed.
