I thought Intel changed to a Cha Ching, Cha Ching, Cha Ching microarchitecture.
thankfully ryzen was not a flop otherwise we would never saw 6 core i7 cpus

We can see how fast the CPU market has moved this year, it's the most exciting year since 2009.
So let's see - customers recently bought a Kaby Lake CPU (released this year) reading news on tech sites like Techpowerup, WCCFTech, Techadvisor... saying that Coffee Lake would most likely be compatible with the current LGA 1151 mainboards and then find out that no, they won't be able to upgrade.
Contrast that with AMD saying that AM4 will be relevant until 2020 and only be replaced with a new socket once DDR5 and PCIE 4 become available. So they gave firm conditions. This means no guesswork. And even then - given their history - new CPU may be released both for AM4 and its successor.
So another website has a leak of the Core i3 8300:

Unless Intel bumps the price up another level,I might actually get this with a mini-ITX motherboard as a stop gap upgrade for my current system. Then when Zen+ or Zen 2 is released upgrade the other PC I have which is an old Llano based one.
I wonder if Intel will be using subpar bargain basement TIM again under the IHS ?
I sure hope not? That would be a bad move of Intel's part. I'm sure they know people will test it.
I think that's pretty much guaranteed.I wonder if Intel will be using subpar bargain basement TIM again under the IHS ?

7900X is also polymer TIM and glued IHS. Afew have asked for the 8 core. I will try to bin some of these this week.
