X99 was the last range of Intel CPUs to have soldered IHSs.The 7900X uses TIM - Why would they solder their new range of desktop enthusiast CPUs?
I think the days of Intel soldering stuff are long gone. They haven't in 6 years now IIRC?

Looking forward to see if the Core i3 is 4C/8T as that is far more exciting for the average gamer than the 6C/12T CPUs if they are over £300.
to be expected imo. I would have bought that as a really cheap/good upgrade from my 2500k rather than a 6 core i5Article on Reddit says i3 is a 4core 4 thread.
Edit* too slow.

Poor Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7.
Look at the version of CPU-z. Reading the comments in the link it seems like you get higher scores with the older versionDo you believe that the 8700k has a 4.7x better single core score than the 7700k?

There is no doubt Intel will make it faster then 7700k.

Looks like it cost £220 here though, price of previous flagships and same spec. 8700K at £350.. I just don't even ...
Oh Intel .
Actually, I went and downloaded the same version of CPUz to make it fair.
The 8700k is not that impressive, it only provides a slight increase in single core compared to the 7700k and ryzen 1700 beats it in multi. Much of the same as we already have.
Looks like poor i7 to me. Ryzen loses 42 in single but mullers it in multi.
