I was in no way relating what I said to my personal situation, I am in fact particularly happy with my relationship at the moment, but that is by the by. If you are the type of person that has to look cool with someone good looking on your arm to feel complete, then that's your prerogative. I'd rather be happy than act happy.
It's a simple pragmatic approach. If you have regular relationships which aren't working, why not analyse your priorities. If your priorities are manor-isms > looks, then search for a partner based on that and you may find happiness. You may find the best partner you ever had if you base your choices on personality first, and no, I am not saying you can't have both at the same time, but there is no such thing as the perfect person. Well, there is, but they are the type of person who pretends to be perfect to get what they want...
