Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

I met a girl last weekend while I was out and about and we arranged to meet up this Saturday.

On Saturday she tells me I've been talking to her mate on POF so wants to cancel. I had no idea, obviously.

Whoops. :p

Not sure whether to keep talking to the friend now or not.

Sounds like the shallow cow wasn't worth bothering with if that's her attitude after meeting you once.
Unless of course you had already got her in the sack and munched on her Cornish.

May as well keep talking to the one on POF unless she shrugs you off. Not a lot to lose either way.

Lose the "I am good looking" quote, that's not for you to decide.
Maybe a better word would be "confident" ;)
"Wisdom and knowledge beyond your years" Oh come on, now you sound cocky. "Well educated in the skills of life" or something sounds better.

Maybe you are a realist but to give that example sounds like you're a bit stuck up.

laughing at others opinions of you has moved you from cocky to arrogant.
Just say you're not shallow.

You should "take time to get to know someone" instead of the singular statement of "I don't wear my heart on a sleeve"

Leave out ANYTHING depressing like the hunting for work stuff.

Maybe try and write it so it flows rather than just what seems like a couple of random statements.

A couple of your / you're mistakes in there too

Oh and finally, a decent photographer would have positioned the shot so that the camera wasn't on show. :p ;)

Signed back up with POF, put nothing in my profile execpt some joke about me having a private jet for the first date. Some photos where I look like a complete tool and I'm getting more messages than ever and from some very good looking women too.

I'm barely even trying, I had one girl (albeit not the prettiest) email me asking if I'd like no strings.

Weirdest every experience on POF. The best of it, I met someone on Saturday so no intentions on meeting anyone at the moment!
 
Its bizarre, you put hardly any effort into messages and you seem to get a response where as if you do loads of talking you don't, also i read some girls profiles with loads and loads of information and i just think well, your hot, but i don't have a clue what to talk to you about.. i feel like i know everything about you.. might sign up with okcupid as well! trying to upload photos and it keeps saying no

I just send complete nonsense to those type of profiles. Or pick out one thing from it, works sometimes. They do make it hard work mind.

It seems you're not one of those ultra-attractive people that happen to also be able to write a decent profile. If you were, you would probably be getting messages. It's like in all walks of life, most people have to put effort in to get things unless they are already incredibly gifted.

oh right. the thing is my mind goes blank when it comes to writting stuff. im fine talking to people face to face (well if its already initiated, wouldnt just walk up to a stranger). and as for the looks, unfortunatly im stuck looking the way i do.
im sure internet dating is good, but yeh, is so hard to get started.

now if i was to go and sit in the street, im sure i would get a lot of people looking, but not for the right reasons :p

My problems as well.

I think it's why I have never, ever had messages from girls, sent a load, put a good profile together!

Ah well! It might happen when I least expect it...

Anyone got any tips for someone who doesn't seem to getting any replies on POF?

Any suggestions on how to kick off a conversation? I'm not usually too bad but my response rate just seems to have dropped through the floor :/
 
I have been on POF for a while and go through stages of getting a lot of views but rarely get messages and don't always get a reply.

I enjoy watching movies and tv shows, and will watch most things. Have quite a long list of favourite movies and TV shows though, it's so hard to narrow it down!


Currently studying an Open University course which is IT based, with the aim of a degree at the end of it all.

Enjoy reading although I don't do it as often as I use to, I do still and try and find some time.

Having recently been to Thailand for month I most definitely have the travel bug now, it really opened my eyes to the world.
I have a list of places to see, now to work my way through them.

Being a postman I tend to listen to a lot of music at work, it's one of the perks. Mostly electronic stuff like house/dance some trance etc.. but I try and vary it up a bit by listening to some bands and some pop.

I am laid back, down to earth and I would say has a decent sense of humour although maybe a little warped at times (Thank you Jimmy Carr/Frankie Boyle).
Quite family orientated, I realised it's not until you get a bit older that you really start to appreciate them.

That is about all I can think of and that is probably a bit to much so congratulations if you have made it this far =)"
 
^^ Not very catchy or memorable. Likely to be lost amongst the crowd. Try and sound a bit more intriguing and less "vanilla" :)

This is hard to do and when you look at 99% of peoples profiles most are pretty bland. Not really sure on where to start. I will give it some thought and get back to it.
