Richdog does seem to make some interesting (not saying he is right or wrong) points. His world seems different to mine, but look where his location is. Richdog have you ever gone out with woman who are in rubbish jobs do they seem a bit more down to earth sorts. Ive never been out with a girl who has had a good job, so they seem to respect money more i guess. And money has never been an occasion where its a problem.

Yup of course I have been out with girls with who were not career minded, in fact my longest relationship was with someone with zero career ambition. I am certainly not and never have been rich, and its only in the last 5 years since I took a very wise job opportunity outside of the UK that I really made some advances in my life and career. I'm also not a material guy... as long as I have money to buy the gadgets and clothing I want and to keep myself in a good lifestyle (basically a comfy place to live, money to eat well and go out partying) then I'm happy. All I want from a woman is someone I find attractive with a certain level of intelligence and the ability to support herself financially... nothing else is required other than us having things in common. having said that, I am lucky to live somewhere where the general standard of education and aptitude for languages is very high (most people speak minimum 2 or 3, and almost always English), so you can have a great conversation with pretty much any woman you meet.

Also, most of the women I know are the "down to earth" types, I have little tolerance for airhead gold-digger types who expect to be wined and dined without lifting a finger. But you would be surprised of how many of even the most down to earth girls do have certain minimum standards they look for in guys, especially the closer to 30 they get.

Annnnnnd I'm back!

The girl I was seeing (and got into a relationship with) since January decided we were moving too quickly. She stayed over night at mine once... A week later she got back with her ex of 6 years.

All part of the fun I suppose!

I know how you feel, that's what I call "emotional baggage". Any person who still has contact with their ex then I don't other with them. If they have kids or a financial ties with a previous partner then fair enough but any other reason then I see it as a waste of my time.

Worst thing about paying is it tells everyone you've paid and thus adds another metric based on why you paid. This guy is serious, this guy is deseperate, etc. Otherwise I agree, knowing how often they view you would be a bonus.
Yeah it does by default, but you can turn that off in your account settings :)

I met my second wife through internet dating.

We had our first date in January 2007, and got married in February 2008.

I was with my first wife 11 years, I'm still only 36.

Guessing quite a lot!

Weren't most of these features free at one point too?

I don't know, I spent probably less than 2 months on these sites before giving up because of my perception of the woman on it and the fact the sites are genuinely bad.

Technically these sites are fairly easy to make, so I've assumed the amount of people paying was fairly low, otherwise why do they suck so much? :p

Lol internet dating what a complete waist of time it is.

Been talking to this lady for a couple of weeks, getting on great ect decided we meet up yesterday, so last week I booked a table for 2 at a restaurant, before setting off phoned her up to tell her i was setting off i'll meet her there, she said ok see you there.

I was sat waiting for nearly an hour looking like a plank, only for her not to show up, wouldn't reply to any text & when i rang her she switched her phone off.

Sent a text this morning saying thanks for waisting my time, hope the next person you decide to meet does same to you aswell. :/

This is very common.

Damn that really sucks, but the girl was clearly ignorant as hell, so put it down to bad luck and move on.

This is very common.

It's not "very common".... it just happens sometimes. :)

It is 'very common' you hear about it all the time from different parts of the world.

Really, we hear about it "all the time different parts of the world"... and which dating news sites would this be on? :D

I think your definition of "very common" may be different to that of the dictionary definition. :p
