Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

Anyone got any suggestions for a first date that can be done in the evening mid-week? I've done ten pin bowling on a first date before but it goes over too quickly. Got a date with a barmaid next week but due to her shifts her only free time is next Wednesday evening.

This is very much what i feel. I am quite fussy, i have only ever had one GF that has lasted more than a week. Everyone can get someone, its just how fussy/high standards you have

for me id rather be with no one than anyone. I havent got high standards personally, but i am fussy! I like the person to have same intersts as me (to a point)

I also feel many single mums dont want YOU they want someone, i have
always wanted to be wanted for me, not because i provide a service. I would also only take that on if the person wasnt a scrounger.

I agree, I need to be absolutely sure, or at least pretty certain.

Again I agree, I can be quite kind & generous but don't want to be scrounged off. I'm more than happy to pay for things or buy things out of the blue, not that I expect the same, but relationships are a two way street, it's not for the man to constantly show his appreciation for the woman to try and 'retain' her. If you appreciate me, show me.

I quite like pool, only because it can be a bit stop/start and if the place isn't busy you can drag it out. It's also similar to mini golf in that you can both be awful it doesn't matter but can get mildly competitive.

I signed up on Tuesday and received 3 messages today in the space of about an hour  from three girls, two of which are very attractive, one I think I'd gel well with and the other had a fairly vague profile but is a bit further away. The third girl I don't find attractive. Would it be nicer to ignore her message or tell her straight out? pretty certain the former would be kinder.

How high up the scale is locality for most of you? I don't mind a short drive circa 5 miles, the same town would be great. I know narrowing the area cuts the options significantly.

I did the pool and arcade date with the ex. It was good fun but I'm not sure how this one feels about playing pool. I'm going to the pub she works at tonight to have a bit of a chat with her in person (I bottled asking her out when I first met her so did it by text the next day instead :p) so will ask about the first date then.

We've both admitted to being shy and quiet so I'm after something where we can have a laugh rather than being sat face to face over a drink/coffee. Thinking ice skating, the arcade, or a walk down the coast/beach (although potential for the conversation to stop at times)

Even though I drive I prefer if they live within 10 miles of me.

Sounds like a good idea Benny, my mate has met a few girls at the gym doing the classes, seems a good thing to try.

Ive recently made a few changes to my profile, anyone care to critique?

Good profile, but as Mischief says you need to sort the pics out and get some clearer ones. Glad you didn't put the mirror gym bicep pose on there :p

I did notice a grammatical error at the beginning, but it is nothing major and the rest reads well. Good luck!!

I have put my profile up for people to look at too

Sounds good. I think it's the 40 Year Old Virgin which gives the advice to 'just ask questions!' but I don't think this would go down well, probably a bit weird: 1:20 onwards

That's fair enough, at least you both know you're shy rather than thinking the other is boring! Ice skating is good and you can either purposefully fall over if you want to play that card :p

It seems like a practical radius and would make seeing each other during the week easier, that's my thoughts anyway.

I've just made one last night, thought I would give it a shot! I've got a few pictures up but I will have to get better ones of my mug. I've only sent out two messages and one of them replied and talking to her on Facebook.

I've had two messages from other girls, but I ain't interested in them. Do you guys just ignore them, or just say hey back, because I feel a bit bad on ignoring them! I must be just too soft.

i was the same i would say hey back to the ones who didnt interest me
but then the women who didnt like me, didnt message back and just ignored my messages so i stopped doing it. sounds shallow and inconsiderate i know :(:o

Yeah that's what I mean, I thought about, that girl didn't get back to me. I suppose it's what you would do when you go out clubbing, just ignore them!

I must say, it's a lot easier then I thought it would be, I sent off a message something similar to "what brought me to your profile was your beautiful eyes and your gentle smile" rather than "hi you okay". If a girl said that to me, and she was beautiful etc, I would just ignore her because I think it's rude not to put at least a constructive message?

yeah you have to stand out from the standard "hey how are you" messages
i say " hey :) (INSERT COMMENT ABOUT A PHOTO OR SOMETHING ON THERE PROFILE) (ASK QUESTION ABOUT PROFILE OR THEM AS A PERSON)"
ill sometimes add a bit more and beef it up a bit but it depends on the profile

I've had 'You seem nice', 'I'd take you on a bit of mini golf ;)', 'You're fit! how are you single?!' and something about it being nice to see someone after something other than a quick one.

Though the one that caught my attention the most was 'mmm cake' as I mentioned cake in my profile :D she's also the one I like the look of & profile of the most.

Something querky with a little banter seems to be a good starting point and a question or two or statement about a picture will get a conversation going.

Yeah I know what you mean benny. I just got another message from a girl saying "you seem to good to be true :p". Shame though as she wasn't my type! My point is, banter like that just makes you feel happy? It's what people lack of I find in today's society.

Got a quick question for the guys that seem to date loads on this thread.

At what point or after how many dates is it acceptable/expected for a interested guy as ask a girl to be his girlfriend? As I don't want to be one of those guys who waits too long and the girl begins to think I'm no longer interested when I clearly still am!!

With the ex it was her who decided we'd go official on our 5th date. Although I liked her I was just seeing how it went as before that the most dates I'd be on with one girl was three.

We were only together official for a month before she broke it off. Apparently the chemistry she had with her ex she didn't have with me. Just me that finds it weird she compared someone new to someone she had?

IMO it all depends on the two people and how they are feeling. ie, if one wants to go slow. best to just sit down and have a chat about it

when/if i ever get to that stage with a girl, i would ask her how she felt towards me maybe after the third date, then perhaps do the "girlfriend" chat at around the 4th or 5th depending on the circumstances.

theres no set answer, everyones different, you do whats right for you :)

Yeah, it's a bit odd. To me it just sounds like she wasn't ready/wasn't over her ex. Or maybe she was using that as an excuse why things weren't working between you?

An ex is an ex for a reason afterall, so it surely should be a good thing that things were different with you compared to her ex? (If that makes any sense at all?)
