Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

I've had hardly any luck with PoF and find the same old read/deleted type responses, even with girls way below my standards that I messaged for the lulz. I've had a white knight type profile, i.e. nice guy as well as an 'I'm a complete a***hat' type profile that I had slightly more luck with.

A fitty randomly messaged me out of the blue that recognised me from about 12 years ago or more and we went for a date last week that went very well. Fingers crossed for round 2. I guess it was worth it after all. :)

Never have as I'm happily coupled (and have been for years) but I know a fair number of people who met their partners this way and they seem pretty happy.

I think I'd be inclined to give it a try if I ever split up with the missus, it's difficult to meet new people when you're working full time and all your friends are paired-off

Not on PoF, but met my other half thru facebook who is from North Yorkshire, just over 2 1/2 years ago. We've just celebrated 2 years of living together a week last Sunday.

Had had a few dates with other girls I'd met thru facebook beforehand, all of which went ok but no real connection, but 99% knew this was going to work on our first face to face meeting, as we'd spoke for hours and sent 100's of txts back and forth for the 10 days or so before we met.

Would recommend anyone giving it a go.

Via facebook? How on earth does that work? Do you just message random birds? Seems a bit stalker'ish.

Stalker?? You know me so well :D

Nah, there are a few "cattle market" apps on there lol. Met a few on "Are You Interested", and a few on "Social Me" (including the Missus). Both work very similar to what PoF looks like.

Not "internet dating" as such. I met a french girl my age on WoW (her 18th soon actually). Met her ages ago but a few bad things happened at once and we lost contact. Saw her on WoW a few months ago and re-added her on WLM. Couple of weeks later she asked to meet (she lives in Birmingham now). We agreed to meet on Saturday 13th Nov, but she pulled out 2 days before it was meant to happen!

Was totally gutted since she's a good laugh. Hopefully will get another opportunity soon but it doesn't seem likely :p

I thought my effort was basic and to the point and was wondering if yours was similarly blunt. ;) It reminds me of a mate who thought it would be clever to use, "fancy a ****?" when out in clubs. He's still with a girl he pulled with that line a few years later!

Ah, apologies my bad. Pre coffee early morning post on my part. I'm not quite that blunt but not far off it :)

noticed on POF that Now you cannot see if messages have been read/deleted etc, unless you pay for a upgrade....

is this right or am i missing somehting ?

Yeah a French girl thats just moved to England. Yeah sure! :p

Got a date with some hottie this Sunday. The best of it, I went on a date about 2 years ago with her. Not sure if she remembers me or not, still never got that far with her last time.

Glad to hear I am not the only one who gets Read/Deleted most of the time.

The only one I got interest from admitted to being a 'gypsy' and 'proud of it' on her profile. She also had kids galore :(
The email I got off her made me feel sick and so did her picture.

There was one attractive girl who got back to me (from Essex) and she was really polite and sweet. I knew for certain she only got back to me because she did not want to come across as another one of those girls that just ignores you. So I said thanks for getting back to me but, I can tell you are not really interested in me.
To be fair, she was honest in the end and I felt like a numpty for even trying lol.

I was punching above my weight a bit.
Shortly after that, I gave up POF. I then sadly went onto a site called directdating, which was just as bad (and was not free)

For those of you who are sick of plentyoffish, I've heard mysinglefriend.com is a lot better. You have to pay for it but that's not necessarily a bad thing since at least you know it isn't full of girls who are just on there for an ego boost after they read/delete your messages!

My own experience with mysinglefriend is they don't have a very large population and the population that is there are mostly dead profiles from people no longer looking at them. This was a while ago, though

I met my G/f of 2.5 years on the internet, She was tanking a Black Morass PUG I was in and she ninja'd my hourglass of the unravel-er but then made it up to me by chain running the instance until I got one too :)

I did, best thing i have ever done! met a few guy's who were only after one thing & one thing only, there are a few site's I'd avoid like the plague & wouldn't recommend to anyone, but I found my fella on Facebook 3 years ago & got married last year. NEVER been happier
